Adem Asil
Adem Asil (born 21 February 1999) is an Egyptian-born Turkish male artistic gymnast. He represented Turkey at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. He is the 2022 World Champion on still rings and is the 2023 and 2025 European all-around champion. Born Abdelrahman Elzamzamy, he changed his name to Abdelrahman Elgamal when he moved to Turkey and competed under that name at a 2020 European Championship. In 2021, he changed it again to Adem Asil, as a response to the condition of changing a foreign name into Turkish, to obtain naturalization. Personal life Abdelrahman Elzamzamy was born in Alexandria, Egypt on 21 February 1999 to a middle-class Egyptian family. Gymnastics career Representing Egypt 2017 A member of the Egyptian national team, Elzamzamy took part in the Paris Challenge Cup in France and the Varna Challenge Cup in Bulgaria. 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games
The 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games () were the 5th edition of the event held from 9 to 18 August 2022 at Konya, Turkey under the aegis of Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF). It was the first time in history that the event was organised by the Turkish Olympic Committee. Formerly scheduled to take place from 20 to 29 August 2021, the event was postponed to be held from 10 to 19 September 2021 in July 2020 by the ISSF because the original dates were coinciding with the 2020 Summer Olympics, which were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2021, the ISSF postponed the event to August 2022 citing the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the participating countries. Bidding On 22 / 23 December 2016, the Turkish Olympic Committee submitted its bid for 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games during a Coordination Meeting with Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation held at the country. 2017 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships was the forty-seventh edition of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. The competition was held from October 2–8, 2017, at the Montreal Olympic Stadium, Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event marked the first time since 2003 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, 2003 that the Championships had been held in North America. Montreal was also the host of the 1985 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, 1985 World Championships and the 1976 Summer Olympics.
