Adalberto Almeida y Merino ( Bachíniva, June 6, 1916 – Chihuahua, June 21, 2008) was a Mexican prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who served as Bishop of Tulancingo, 1956–1962; Bishop of Zacatecas, 1962–1969 and Archbishop of Chihuahua, 1969–1991. Early life He was born on June 6, 1916, in the village of Bachíniva, Chihuahua, the son of Luis Almeida Alderete and María Merino Sáenz. He received his early schooling in his home village before entering the Conciliar Seminary of Chihuahua in 1930, motivated by his parish priest, Vicente Hurtado Saldaña, who had asked for his admittance to the then Bishop of Chihuahua Antonio Guízar y Valencia. Adalberto Cecilio Álvarez Zayas (22 November 1948 – 1 September 2021) was a Cuban pianist, arranger, conductor, and composer. Biography Adalberto was born in La Havana on November 22, 1948, but considered himself a native of Camagüey, where he lived his early years. His birth in Havana had been "accidental", as his mother was visiting the capital and gave birth to him there. He began his musical career as a singer, but was admitted to the Escuela Nacional de Artes ( National School of Arts) in Havana for bassoon study. He was enrolled there between 1966 and 1972, and also served as professor of Musical Literature at the Provincial School of Art of Camagüey during the 1970s. He founded the Cuban orchestra Son 14 in 1978, and later disbanded it in the 1980s. Career Born April 23, 1937, in Pozas barrio, Ciales, Puerto Rico, Adalberto's relaxed and flawless lead vocals are among the best in the salsa genre of Latin music.
