Ada Sophia Rundell
Ada Sophia Rundell (1 January 1876 - 1936), was an Australian physiotherapist who before the First World War promoted the use of physiotherapy by the military, and who subsequently served with the Australian Imperial Force in France and England during the conflict. William Reeve Rundell, sometimes Reeves, (10 July 1848 – 6 or 8 March 1936) was an Australian postal officer. He was born in England but emigrated to Australia with his family while still a child. He obtained employment in the Victorian post office and was promoted to senior posts in Melbourne where he was in charge of post office records. He was also a philatelist, specialising in the stamps of Australia and the State of Victoria. He was a founder member and president of the Philatelic Society of Victoria and a life member of Sydney Philatelic Club. He signed the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 1924. First Australian Imperial Force
The First Australian Imperial Force (1st AIF) was the main expeditionary force of the Australian Army during the First World War. It was formed as the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) following Britain's declaration of war on Germany on 15 August 1914, with an initial strength of one infantry division and one light horse brigade. The infantry division subsequently fought at Gallipoli between April and December 1915, with a newly raised second division, as well as three light horse brigades, reinforcing the committed units. After being evacuated to Egypt, the AIF was expanded to five infantry divisions, which were committed to the fighting in France and Belgium along the Western Front in March 1916. Australian Physiotherapy Association
The Australian Physiotherapy Association (formerly the Australasian Massage Association) was founded by Teepoo Hall in 1905. The APA has published the '' Journal of Physiotherapy'' since 1954. History In February 1905, the prominent physician Frederick Teepoo Hall called a meeting of scholars to call attention to the need for an organization which protected the profession of massage. By December 1905, the idea had considerable traction and Teepoo Hall convened a special meeting to form the Australasian Massage Association (AMA) with the purpose of establishing massage as a professional field. Sir Thomas Anderson Stuart was the association's first president. The first paid secretary, Evelyn Paget Evans, of the Australasian Trained Nurses Association also became the General secretary of this Association (which was then called the Australian Massage Association) in 1917.
