Acworth is an unincorporated community in Red River County, Texas, United States. It was settled in 1902, by J. H. Cox, who named the community after his old home of Acworth, Georgia. A post office operated there from 1902 to 1956. Its population in 1910 was 10, and the population stayed at 20 from 1940 to 1986. In 2000 2000 was designated as the International Year for the Culture of Peace and the World Mathematics, Mathematical Year. Acworth is a city in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, this city had a population of 22,440, up from 20,425 in 2010. Acworth is located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains along the southeastern banks of Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona on the Etowah River. Unincorporated areas known as Acworth extend into Bartow, Cherokee, and Paulding counties. Acworth is often referred to as "the Lake City" because of its proximity to Lake Allatoona and Lake Acworth. The 1910 United States census, conducted by the Census Bureau on April 15, 1910, determined the resident population of the United States to be 92,228,496, an increase of 21 percent over the 76,212,168 persons enumerated during the 1900 census. The 1910 census switched from a portrait page orientation to a landscape orientation. This was the last census in which Texas did not record any top 50 largest cities by population, despite being the 5th most populous state at the time.
