Accusing Evidence
''Accusing Evidence'' is a 1916 American silent Western film directed by Allan Dwan and starring Lon Chaney, Pauline Bush and Murdock MacQuarrie. The film was likely produced by early 1914 but only theatrically released in 1916, due to the actors who appear in the cast with Chaney. For one thing, Pauline Bush wasn't even working for Universal in 1916, and Chaney hadn't worked for director Allan Dwan since 1914. The general opinion is that this film was shot in early 1914 when Chaney made ''The Honor of the Mounted'' with Murdock MacQuarrie for Allan Dwan, but the film's release was delayed for some reason for more than two years. Another theory is that this film could actually be ''The Honor of the Mounted'' (or even the 1913 ''Bloodhounds of the North'' perhaps) retitled and repackaged. Allan Dwan
Allan Dwan (born Joseph Aloysius Dwan; April 3, 1885 – December 28, 1981) was a pioneering Canadian-born American motion picture director, producer, and screenwriter. Early life Born Joseph Aloysius Dwan in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Dwan, was the younger son of commercial traveler of woolen clothing Joseph Michael Dwan (1857–1917) and his wife Mary Jane Dwan, née Hunt. The family moved to the United States when he was seven years old on December 4, 1892 by ferry from Windsor to Detroit, according to his naturalization petition of August 1939. His elder brother, Leo Garnet Dwan (1883–1964), became a physician. Allan Dwan studied engineering at the University of Notre Dame and then worked for a lighting company in Chicago. ''Bloodhounds of the North'' is a 1913 American silent short drama film directed by Allan Dwan and starring Murdock MacQuarrie, Pauline Bush, and Lon Chaney. The film is now considered lost. Some sources state the film was edited down to one reel and re-released theatrically in 1916 as ''The Accusing Evidence'', but this is disputed. Plot A colony of refugees in the Canadian mountains are wanted by the police for various crimes. One day, a man sought for embezzlement arrives at the colony with his daughter, Pauline. The embezzler is crafty and a natural born leader, and thus takes over leadership of the colony from James, the former leader. Plot Mac, Jacques Laquox and Jacques' sister Marie all grew up together in a small town in the Rockies. Mac and Marie love each other, but Mac wants to make something of his life so he travels to the big city and decides to join the Mounties. Forrest, a fellow Mountie, is sent to Mac's old hometown to investigate a smuggling ring. There he meets Marie and attacks her lustfully.
