Abulug
Abulug (; ; ), officially the Municipality of Abulug, is a municipality in the province of , Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 34,579 people. History Abulug was officially established as a Spanish mission in 1596. Originally called Tular, the name Abulug became commonly used after 1629. The town became the base of Spanish expeditions against the unconquered Isneg tribes of Apayao. Since its founding, the town has had to change its location thrice, primarily due to the frequently changing course of the Abulog river. Geography Abulug is situated from the provincial capital Tuguegarao, and from the country's capital city of Manila. Barangays Abulug is politically subdivided into 20 barangays.Each barangay consists of puroks while some have sitios. The Abulog River or Abulug River is the 9th largest river system in the Philippines in terms of watershed size. It has an estimated drainage area of and a length of from its source in the mountains of Apayao in the Cordillera Administrative Region. More than 90% of the drainage area of the river is located in Apayao province while the remaining, including the mouth of the river, is in Cagayan province. Poverty is measured in different ways by different bodies, both governmental and nongovernmental. The Isnag people (also referred to as Isneg, Yapayao and Apayao) are an Austronesian ethnic group native to Apayao province in the Philippines' Cordillera Administrative Region, though they are also found in parts of Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Abra. Their native language is Isnag language, Isnag, although most Isnag also speak Ilocano.
