''Indiana Jones'' is an American media franchise consisting of five films and a prequel television series, along with games, comics, and tie-in novels, that depicts the adventures of Indiana Jones (character), Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones, Jr. (portrayed in all films by Harrison Ford), a fictional professor of archaeology. The series began in 1981 with the film ''Raiders of the Lost Ark''. In 1984, a prequel, ''Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'', was released, and in 1989, a sequel, ''Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade''. Sallah Mohammed Faisel el-Kahir () is a fictional character played by Welsh actor John Rhys-Davies in three of the ''Indiana Jones'' films: ''Raiders of the Lost Ark'', ''Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'', and ''Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny''. He also appears in various comics and novels, and is featured in the Disney theme park attractions, the Indiana Jones Adventure and The Great Movie Ride. Character Sallah is a hefty, bearded Egyptian excavator. He lives in Cairo and is a close friend of Indiana Jones. He is a dedicated family man with a wife named Fayah and nine children, all of whom seem to have a fondness for Indiana (at one point they all surround him to save him from a group of Egyptian collaborators and SD agents who have their guns drawn on him). Wolf Kahler (born 3 April 1940) is a German character actor in stage, film, television, and voice actor. Early life Kahler was born in Kiel in Germany. Career With blue eyes, sculpted jawbone, and height of , Kahler was often chosen to play unsympathetic German characters or Nazis. Hermann Robert Dietrich (14 December 1879 – 6 March 1954) was a German politician of the liberal German Democratic Party and served as a minister during the Weimar Republic. Finance Minister of Germany In 1930, Dietrich succeeded Paul Moldenhauer as Finance Minister of the Weimar Republic. In the midst of the Great Depression, Dietrich became the "chief proponent" of government contracts in 1930 in an attempt to offset the drastic increase in unemployment. Because the contracts were contingent on the reduction of prices, he and the Provisional National Economic Council had to authorise the reduction of wages in the German industrial community. Ronald William Lacey (28 September 1935 – 15 May 1991) was an English actor. He made numerous television and film appearances over a 30-year period. Paul Freeman (actor)
Paul Freeman (born 18 January 1943) is an English actor who has appeared in theatre, television and film. Internationally, he is known for playing the rival archaeologist René Belloq in ''Raiders of the Lost Ark'' (1981), evil wine baron Gustav Riebmann on season 4 of the soap opera ''Falcon Crest'' (1984–85), and supervillain Ivan Ooze in '' Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie'' (1995).
