Abe Koogler
Abe Koogler is an American playwright. Koogler studied playwrighting at the Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas at Austin and is a graduate of the Juilliard School Playwrighting Fellowship. He received an Obie Award for his play ''Fulfillment Center'' that ran Off-Broadway in 2018. In 2018, he received the Dramatists Guild’s Lanford Wilson Award. In 2012, he was awarded the Paula Vogel Playwright Award by the Kennedy Center. He was also 2019-20 Rita Goldberg Playwrights' Workshop Fellow. Vashon () is a census-designated place (CDP) in King County, Washington, United States. It covers an island alternately called Vashon Island or Vashon–Maury Island, the largest island in Puget Sound south of Admiralty Inlet. Obie Award
The Obie Awards or Off-Broadway Theater Awards are annual awards given since 1956 by ''The Village Voice'' newspaper to theater artists and groups involved in off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway productions in New York City. Starting just after the 2014 ceremony, the American Theatre Wing became the joint presenter and administrative manager of the Obie Awards. The Obie Awards are considered off-Broadway's highest honor, similar to the Tony Awards for Broadway productions. The Dramatists Guild of America is a professional organization for playwrights, composers, and lyricists working in the U.S. theatre market. It was born in 1921 out of the Authors Guild, known then as Authors League of America, formed in 1912. Membership as an Associate Member is open to any person having written at least one stage play. Active Members are playwrights who have had at least one play produced in front of a paying audience or have had their work published by a major theatrical publisher. Paula Vogel
Paula Vogel (born November 16, 1951) is an American playwright. She is known for her provocative explorations of complex social and political issues. Much of her work delves into themes of psychological trauma, abuse, and the complexities of human relationships. She has received the Pulitzer Prize as well as nominations for two Tony Awards. In 2013 she was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame. Vogel started her career with the off-Broadway play '' How I Learned to Drive'' which earned her the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play was revived on Broadway in 2022, earning her a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play nomination. The play tells the story of various occupants of a small town off the coast of Puget Sound trying to decipher why the local whales have disappeared.
