Abdelkader Hachani
Abdelkader Hachani (; ar, عبد القادر حشاني; 26 December 1956 – 22 November 1999) was a leading figure and founding member of the Islamic Salvation Front (or FIS), an Algerian Islamic party. Career Following the arrests of Abassi Madani and Ali Belhadj on 30 June 1991, he became the party's effective leader (after four days of contested leadership by Mohamed Said.) He led the party to victory in the National Assembly elections of December 1991; shortly afterwards, he was arrested on 22 January 1992. As the Algerian Civil War raged, he was released in July 1997. The court handed him a sentence of five years, which he had already served waiting for the trial. Tamlouka ( ar, تاملوكة) is a small city of about 22.000 inhabitants in the District of Aïn Makhlouf of the Guelma Province in the northeast of Algeria. It is located at the intersection of W10 and W133, between the cities of Oued Zenati and Aïn Beïda. It is located 60 kilometres from Guelma, capital of the province. Fouad Boulemia
Fouad Boulemia, born in 1973, is a former guerrilla of the Armed Islamic Group, found guilty of killing Abdelkader Hachani and of participating in the Bentalha massacre. Biography Boulemia was a member of the Armed Islamic Group, an organisation fighting both the Algerian government and the Islamic Salvation Army and frequently targeting civilians, between the spring of 1995 and 1999. Abdelkader Hachani, a leading member of the Islamic Salvation Front, was assassinated on November 22, 1999, soon after being released from prison. In December the government announced that it had arrested Fouad Boulemia for his murder. Boulemia was sentenced to death on April 12, 2001 after a one-day trial. At the trial, he claimed to have been tortured by the secret services and threatened by General Toufik in person to force him to sign a confession that he now repudiated. Bab El Oued is a neighbourhood in Algiers, the capital of Algeria, along the coast north of the city centre. As of 2008, the population of the commune of Bab El Oued was 64,732. History During the existence of French Algeria, Bab El Oued was established as the main neighbourhood of poor '' pied-noirs'', including many poor fishermen. Towards the end of the Algerian War, the neighbourhood became the stronghold of the Organisation armée secrète, until OAS attacks on the French Army led them to assault and purge the neighbourhood, during the siege of Bab el Oued in March 1962. Soon after, Algeria became independent, and the '' pied noir'' population fled the country. The neighbourhood was then settled by Muslim Algerians. Abdelaziz Bouteflika
Abdelaziz Bouteflika (; ar, عبد العزيز بوتفليقة, ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz Būtaflīqa ; 2 March 1937 – 17 September 2021) was an Algerian politician and diplomat who served as President of Algeria from 1999 to his resignation in 2019. Before his stint as an Algerian politician, Bouteflika served during the Algerian War as a member of the National Liberation Front. After Algeria gained its independence from France, he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs between 1963 until 1979. He served as President of the United Nations General Assembly during the 1974–1975 session.
