Abbey Theatre, Nuneaton
The Abbey Theatre is situated on Pool Bank Street in the Abbey Ward of Nuneaton, England, and is managed and run by volunteers by the Nuneaton Arts Council (NAC). The venue hosts performances including visiting theatre companies, touring shows, musicals, pantomime and drama, dance, comedy and film screenings. The Abbey Theatre is run by a charity, Nuneaton Arts CIO, Charity No 1193774 With a regular annual attendance of over 30,000, the Abbey is the only public theatre in Nuneaton and one of the busiest venues in Warwickshire. History The Nuneaton Arts Council was founded in 1969 by a group of local arts devotees who noted the continuing demise of other venues in Nuneaton. When the local Territorial Army drill hall became available, the new Arts Council began converting the building. Ritz Cinema, Nuneaton
The Ritz Cinema (better known as The Ritz) is a Grade-II listed art-deco former cinema located on Abbey Street, Nuneaton. It was opened on 23 July 1937, originally for the Union Cinemas circuit, however, in October of the same year, ABC Cinemas would take over the building. The Ritz would stop showing films in 1984. After being used as a cinema, the building would be converted to a bingo hall, and trade as such until its closure. History The Ritz was constructed by cinema architects Verity and Beverley for Union Cinemas. It was founded by David Bernhard and his son, C.F. Bernhard. It opened to the public for the first time on 23 July 1937. It was opened by Nuneaton Mayor and Councillor, T.L. Bedworth Civic Hall
The Bedworth Civic Hall is a multi-purpose entertainment venue in the town centre of Bedworth, Warwickshire, England. The centrepiece of the venue is a 763-seat hall, other facilities included a gallery, meeting rooms, a bistro, a coffee bar and a small hall. History The facility was opened in September 1973. It was owned and managed by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council. In 2004, the hall underwent a major refurbishment costing £1.4 million.
