Ab Fafié (4 March 1941 – 27 November 2012) was a Dutch professional association football, football player and manager. Playing career Club Fafié made his debut for hometown club Feyenoord, Feijenoord against Fortuna '54 in 1959 and also played for Rotterdam club XerxesDZB, Xerxes as well as for PSV Eindhoven, PSV. During an injury-hit spell he only played 13 games for the ''Eindhovenaren''. Managerial career Fafié became assistant to Feyenoord manager Hans Kraay Sr., Hans Kraay in 1981 and was named caretaker after Kraay's dismissal in 1983. Albertus Dominicus Marcellinus Erasmus "Ab" Osterhaus (born 2 June 1948) is a leading Dutch virologist and influenza expert. An Emeritus Professor of Virology at Erasmus University Rotterdam since 1993, Osterhaus is known throughout the world for his work on SARS and H5N1, the pathogen that causes avian influenza. Life Osterhaus was born into a Roman Catholic family of seven and grew up in Slotermeer, Amsterdam. Albert Victor Newsome (April 8, 1920 – May 17, 1979) was a Canadian ice hockey player with the Edmonton Mercurys. He won a gold medal at the 1950 World Ice Hockey Championships in London, England. Alvin Brian McDonald (February 18, 1936 – September 4, 2018) was a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. Career Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, McDonald began his professional hockey career with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1958. He later played for the Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins, and St. Louis Blues. He won four straight Stanley Cups: three with Montreal followed by another with Chicago. He was the first team captain of the Penguins and Winnipeg Jets organizations, and scored the first goal for the Jets in the World Hockey Association (WHA). He ended his career after 147 games for Winnipeg, retiring after the 1973–74 season. He died at his home in Winnipeg from cancer on September 4, 2018, at the age of 82. David Abbott "Ab" Jenkins (January 25, 1883 – August 9, 1956) was the 24th mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah between 1940 and 1944. He was a professional race car driver. Jenkins' interest in motorsports began with racing motorcycles on dirt tracks and across country. He then became interested in land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats. He was instrumental in establishing Bonneville as a location for such events, and in attracting overseas drivers such as George Eyston and Sir Malcolm Campbell to compete there. He drove the " Mormon Meteor", a customized Duesenberg car, to a 24-hour average land speed record of in 1935. In 1940 Jenkins set the 24-hour record of a average that lasted for 50 years (until 1990). He died on a visit to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Abigail Golda Hoffman, (born February 11, 1947) is a Canadian former track and field athlete. Hockey Hoffman is Jewish, and was born in Toronto. She learned to skate when she was three. In the mid-1950s when she was nine, she wanted to play hockey but there weren't any existing leagues specifically for girls in the Toronto area. As a result her parents registered her in the local boy's league as "Ab Hoffman". Due to her age and the fact that Abby sported a short hair cut, she was not easy to distinguish from the boys. When it was discovered she was a girl, she was no longer allowed to play despite the fact that she had not yet reached the age of puberty.
