Aarhus Sports Park () is a sports complex located in Aarhus, Denmark. The complex is named "Ceres Park & Arena" for sponsorship reasons, and contains various sports venues including the Aarhus Stadion and Ceres Arena. The complex is home to multiple sports teams from Aarhus, including Aarhus Gymnastikforening (AGF), Aarhus 1900, Aarhus Håndbold, Team Århus Floorball among others. Aarhus (, , ; officially spelled Ã…rhus from 1948 until 1 January 2011) is the second-largest city in Denmark and the seat of Aarhus municipality, Aarhus Municipality. It is located on the eastern shore of Jutland in the Kattegat sea and approximately northwest of Copenhagen. Dating back to the late 8th century, Aarhus was founded as a harbour settlement at the mouth of the Aarhus River and quickly became a trade hub. The first Christian church was built here around the year 900 and later in the Viking Age the town was fortified with defensive ramparts. Ceres Arena
Ceres Arena (formerly NRGi Arena) is an indoor arena mainly used for handball matches and public events in Aarhus, Denmark. The arena was opened in 2001 and has a capacity of 5,001 spectators (4,394 seats). It is part of the Aarhus Sports Park, which also includes Aarhus Stadium. Ceres Arena is home to Danish Women's Handball League team Aarhus United Elitehandball, Aarhus United and Danish Men's Handball League team Skanderborg Aarhus HÃ¥ndbold. The arena functioned as the main venue in the 2002 European Women's Handball Championship, 2002 European Women's Championships, hosting the final. The arena was also used for basketball, by Bakken Bears, but because of the high price for renting the arena, Bakken Bears moved back to there old home Vejlby-Risskov Hallen. Aarhus Gymnastikforening (; commonly known as AGF ) is a professional sports club based in Aarhus, Jutland, Denmark. Founded in 1880, it is one of the oldest clubs in the country where gymnastics and fencing were featured as its main sports. However, AGF is mostly known for its football department, which was established in 1902. Currently, the club's first team plays in the Danish Superliga, the top flight of the Danish football league system. AGF has won five Danish Football Championships and a shared record nine Danish Cups. In 1961, AGF reached the quarter-finals of the European Cup where they were knocked out by later winners, Benfica. Aarhus HÃ¥ndbold
Aarhus HÃ¥ndbold was a handball club from Aarhus, Denmark. The club was founded in 2001 originally under the name Ã…rhus GF, as an extension of the traditional Aarhus clubs AGF, Brabrand IF, VRI and Ã…rhus KFUM/YMCA / Hasle. AGF chose in 2010 to withdraw from the superstructure, and the club was renamed from AGF HÃ¥ndbold to Aarhus HÃ¥ndbold. The home arena of Aarhus HÃ¥ndbold was Ceres Arena. The club struggled in the last year of its existence with economic problems and in April 2021 the club was declared bankrupt. In connection with this all the players from Aarhus HÃ¥ndbold were released and Ã…rhus HÃ¥ndbold merged with the neighbors from Skanderborg HÃ¥ndbold under the name Skanderborg Aarhus HÃ¥ndbold. The club's male team has played ind the highest league since 1995 and in 2010 the team won the Danish Floorball Championship as well as the Danish Cup.
