Arnt Aamodt (1 October 1871 – 22 July 1936) was a Norwegian trade unionist and politician for the Labour Party. He was best known as treasurer of the Norwegian Union of Iron and Metalworkers from 1908 to 1931. Early life He was born in Fet. As a young man he moved to Kristiania, where he started as a mechanic at Myrens Verksted in 1892. He joined the Mechanics Association and by extension the Norwegian Union of Iron and Metalworkers. Career He was a member of the secretariat of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions from 1907, and served as treasurer of the Union of Iron and Metalworkers from 1908 to 1931. Aamodt was a member of Oslo city council for six years, and a central board member of the Labour Party for one period. Eventually, Aamodt came under attack from a communist opposition in his union. Bjørn Aamodt
Bjørn Aamodt (24 February 1944 – 29 April 2006) was a Norwegian seaman, industrial worker and poet. Biography Aamodt was born in Bærum and died in Oslo, Norway. The son of artist and footballer Asbjørn Aamodt, he graduated artium at Valler Gymnasium in 1962 and later studied psychology at the University of Oslo, where he graduated in 1975. Between 1962 and 1972, he worked as a sailor and dockworker. He was later employed as a crane operator and metal worker. He made his literary debut with the poetry collection ''Tilegnet'' in 1973. Aamodt was awarded Gyldendal's Endowment jointly with Kjersti Scheen in 1994, the Halldis Moren Vesaas Prize in 1997, and the Dobloug Prize in 2003. Christen Thorn Aamodt
Christen Thorn Aamodt (4 August 1770 – 8 May 1836) was a Norwegian priest. He was born in Kvinesdal in Vest-Agder, Norway. He was the son of "poor parents". Despite his background, he enrolled as a student in 1789, and eventually graduated with the cand.theol. degree. He was hired as a curate in Vinje in Telemark in 1798 and Nes in Buskerud during 1803. He then became vicar in Valle in Aust-Agder in 1804. In 1810 he was promoted to dean of Raabyggelagen, which corresponded to the rural inland areas of Aust-Agder including the traditional district of Setesdal. After five years at Lund in Rogaland from 1814 to 1819, he became dean in Lister, his home district and located in the western part of Vest-Agder. He was especially noted for his years in the Setesdal valley, where he worked with improving the local schools, postal system and health.
