A Story Of David
''A Story of David'' (also known as ''David the Outlaw'') is a 1961 British Empire, British-Israel, Israeli drama (film and television), drama film directed by Bob McNaught and starring Jeff Chandler (actor), Jeff Chandler, Basil Sydney and Peter Arne. It depicts the life of the Bible, Biblical King David and his conflicted relationship with King Saul. It was one of the first films made for television. Plot Saul becomes jealous of the popularity of his protege and son-in-law David. David goes into hiding. In a fit of rage, Saul tries to kill David with a spear, but David manages to escape and gathers a group of followers. Saul becomes increasingly obsessed and relentlessly hunts David to kill him, but David refuses to fight Saul, out of respect for him as king. Therefore, David keeps moving from one territory to another to avoid Saul's attacks, while Jonathan, Saul's firstborn son and David's best friend, assists him in his escape. Gerry Day (January 27, 1922 – February 13, 2013) was an American screenwriter. She was also a newspaper reporter for the ''Hollywood Citizen News'' in the mid-1940s. Early life Gerald Lallande Day was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Ruthy and Lenox Day. She was given her name not because her parents had wanted a boy but due to their Southern family name traditions. Her father was the organist for the Grauman's Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. Barbara Shelley (born Barbara Teresa Kowin; 13 February 1932 – 3 January 2021) was an English film and television actress. She appeared in more than a hundred films and television series. John Van Eyssen
Matthew John Du Toit Van Eyssen (19 March 1922 – 13 November 1995) was a South African born actor, agent and film production executive in the UK. He moved to Britain following the Second World War, attending the Central School of Speech and Drama. In 1951 and in 1954 he played the role of Lucifer in the York Cycle of Mystery Plays, first revived in 1951 as part of the Festival of Britain. Van Eyssen appeared in films from 1950 as well as on stage (playing Cassio in Orson Welles' 1951 production of ''Othello'', for example) but achieved his greatest fame as an actor when he portrayed Jonathan Harker in the Hammer Film Productions version of ''Dracula'' (released as ''Horror of Dracula'' in the US) in 1958. Angela Browne (14 June 1938 – 20 June 2001) was a British actress. She had a recurring role in the early 1960s crime series '' Ghost Squad''. She also appeared in episodes of shows such as ''Danger Man'', ''No Hiding Place'', '' The Saint'', '' The Avengers'', ''The Prisoner'', '' Upstairs, Downstairs'' and ''Minder''. In the Hebrew Bible, Abner ( ) was the cousin of King Saul and the commander-in-chief of his army. His name also appears as "Abiner son of Ner", where the longer form Abiner means "my father is Ner". Biblical narrative Abner is initially mentioned incidentally in Saul's history, first appearing as the son of Ner, Saul's uncle, and the commander of Saul's army. Robert James Brown (23 July 192111 November 2003) was an English actor, best known for his portrayal of M in the James Bond films from 1983 to 1989, succeeding Bernard Lee, who died in 1981.
