''A Los Campesinos! Christmas'' is a Christmas EP released by Welsh indie pop band Los Campesinos! Los Campesinos! are a seven-piece indie pop band from Cardiff, Wales, formed in early 2006 at Cardiff University. The record compiles Christmas songs from past years, in addition to new tracks and a cover of Mud's 1974 Christmas number one " Lonely This Christmas". It was released through Turnstile and Heart Swells via iTunes and on 12-inch vinyl, pressed on white, with a CD copy and Christmas card (designed by Rob Taylor) signed by the band included. Los Campesinos!
Los Campesinos! are a seven-piece indie pop band from Cardiff, Wales, formed in early 2006 at Cardiff University. The band has seen several lineup changes– lead vocalist Gareth David Paisey and guitarists Neil Turner and Tom Bromley are the only remaining original members, now joined by guitarist Rob Taylor, keyboardist Kim Paisey, bassist Matt Fidler and drummer Jason Adelinia. Influenced by the twee pop movement, the band released their debut studio album, '' Hold on Now, Youngster...'', in February 2008, and followed up with '' We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed'', in October that year. Both receiving favourable reviews by critics, the former was described by ''Pitchfork'' as a "giddy, tuneful love note to individuality, pathos – and everything else indie pop built its name on". Their third album, '' Romance Is Boring'' (2010), saw the band expanding their "already sizeable instrumental palette". Indie Pop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with a DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. ''No Blues'' is the fifth studio album by Welsh indie rock band Los Campesinos!. It was released on 29 October 2013 via Wichita, Turnstile and Heart Swells. The album was produced by John Goodmanson and guitarist Tom Bromley, and is the first to not feature founding bassist Ellen Waddell, who amicably left the group in late 2012. The first single, "What Death Leaves Behind", was released as a free download on the band's SoundCloud page on 29 August 2013. The second single, "Avocado, Baby", was released on 8 October 2013. Composition Compared to the band's previous album, '' Hello Sadness'' (2011), ''No Blues'' is thematically a more hopeful and optimistic record and a "turning point" for Los Campesinos! according to frontman Gareth David. ''Sick Scenes'' is the sixth studio album by Welsh indie rock band Los Campesinos!. The album was released on 24 February 2017 by Wichita Recordings. The album was produced by John Goodmanson and the band's guitarist Tom Bromley at a studio in the Fridão parish of Amarante, Portugal. It is the band's first album to feature bassist Matt Fidler, who joined the group in 2014, and their final release on Wichita. Background After releasing their fifth album '' No Blues'' in 2013, the members of Los Campesinos! all got full-time jobs and put the band on a hiatus of sorts. When they realized it was the ten-year anniversary of their formation in 2016, they began discussing the possibility of a sixth album. "Lonely This Christmas" is a Christmas song by the English glam rock band Mud, that topped the UK Singles Chart in 1974, selling more than 750,000 copies and reaching Christmas number one. Song Written and produced by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, "Lonely This Christmas" was Mud's second number one single in the UK, spending four weeks at the top in December 1974 and January 1975.
