ATP Düsseldorf Open
The Düsseldorf Open (formerly known as the Power Horse Cup) was a professional men's tennis tournament played on outdoor Clay in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The event was affiliated with the ATP 250 series, on the ATP Tour. The initial event took place on 18–25 May 2013. The 2014 edition of the tournament took place without a title sponsor. In 2015, the event was cancelled before the 2015 ATP World Tour, due a lack of sponsorship, and the tournament's spot in the schedule was awarded to the Geneva Open. From 2006 until 2008, the Düsseldorf Open were an ATP Challenger Tour tournament played at the TG Nord tennis courts. Düsseldorf is the capital city of North Rhine-Westphalia, the most populous state of Germany. It is the second-largest city in the state after Cologne and the List of cities in Germany with more than 100,000 inhabitants, seventh-largest city in Germany, with a 2022 population of 629,047. Philipp Eberhard Hermann Kohlschreiber (; born 16 October 1983) is a German former professional tennis player. The right-hander won eight singles and seven doubles titles on the ATP World Tour and made the quarterfinals at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships. He reached his highest ATP singles ranking of world No. 16 in July 2012. Personal life Kohlschreiber married his long-term girlfriend Lena Alberti on 1 August 2018 in Kitzbühel, Austria. The ATP 250 tournaments (previously known as the ''ATP World Tour 250'' tournaments, ''ATP International Series'', and ''ATP World Series'') are the lowest tier of annual men's tennis tournaments on the main ATP Tour, after the four Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam/major tournaments, ATP Finals, ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, ATP 1000 tournaments, and ATP 500 tournaments, ATP 500 tournaments. As of 2024 ATP Tour, 2024, the series included 38 tournaments, with 250 ranking points awarded to each singles champion—which accounts for the name of the series. The Düsseldorf Grand Prix or Großer Preis von Düsseldorf was a men's clay court tennis tournament founded in 1905 as a combined event men's and women's called the Düsseldorf International or Internationale Düsseldorf. It remained a joint event until 1969 and was held at the Rochusclub Düsseldorfer Tennisclub in Düsseldorf, Germany until 1977. History In 1898 the Rochusclub Düsseldorfer Tennisclub was founded. Christopher Kas (born 13 June 1980) is a retired German tennis player. Kas has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 224, which he achieved in November 2002. He also has a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 17, achieved in February 2012. Kas reached 20 double finals on the ATP Tour posting a record of 5 wins and 15 losses with an array of partners. Scott Lipsky (born August 14, 1981 in Merrick, New York) is an American former professional tennis player and coach. As a player, Lipsky was primarily a doubles specialist. As a junior, Lipsky was ranked No. 1 in the U.S. in singles in 1995, and No. 1 in doubles for three straight years, in 1995–97. He won USTA national singles championships at both the 1995 Boys' 14s Clay Court Championships and the 1997 Boys' 16s Clay Court Championships. In doubles, he and Jeremy Wurtzman won the USTA national 1996 and 1997 Boys' 16s Championships, and the 1999 Boys' 18s Clay Court Championships. After losing only one match in high school in New York, he was a three-time All-American for Stanford University, playing both singles and doubles. Dominic Inglot ( ; born 6 March 1986) is a British former professional tennis player and a Davis Cup champion. A doubles specialist; he made the final of twenty seven ATP World Tour events, winning fourteen, including the Citi Open and Swiss Indoors partnering Treat Huey and Franko Škugor, and also made the final of nine ATP Challenger Tour events winning six of them. Huey specialized in doubles and reached eighteen finals, winning 8 titles on the ATP World Tour.
