ACNA (Italy)
National Dyes Company and Affiliates (Italian: ''Azienda Coloranti Nazionali e Affini''), more commonly known as the ACNA, was the first Italian chemical company, active from 1929 to 1999 in Cengio (main plant), as well as in Cesano Maderno and Rho, although it traces back to 1882 under different names. The company was best known for the pollution of land and waters related to its production of dyes earning it the nickname of "the poison factory" which would see it brought before the Italian government. History ACNA traces it origins to the dynamite factory Dinamitificio Barberi, founded on March 26, 1882 in Cegnio, Italy. The factory would be change hands to the Italian Society of Explosive Products in 1906 and would see their explosives used in conflicts between Italy and Ethiopia War and the Italo-Turkish War. The factory would be retooled in 1908 to produce Sulfuric Acid, Oleum, and TNT, during which the earliest evidence of pollution from the company began to be noticed. ... A dye is a colored substance that chemically bonds to the substrate to which it is being applied. This distinguishes dyes from pigments which do not chemically bind to the material they color. Dye is generally applied in an aqueous solution and may require a mordant to improve the fastness of the dye on the fiber. Carla Mazzuca Poggiolini
Carla Mazzuca Poggiolini (born 19 July 1943) is a professional journalist and Italian politician who served in both chambers of the Italian Parliament. She is the wife of Danilo Poggiolini. Biography Mazzuca was born in Rome on 19 July 1943 to the Mazzuca family. Her father was Mario Mazzuca, a lawyer and prominent Italian rugby player who brought the sport to the country. She claims to be a descendant of Carlo Armellini, an Italian politician from the 19th century. She is a distant cousin of Giancarlo Mazzuca, a modern right-wing Italian politician and a distant relative of Arch-Bishop Cesare Sambucetti. The Chamber of Deputies ( it, Camera dei deputati) is the lower house of the bicameral Italian Parliament (the other being the Senate of the Republic). The two houses together form a perfect bicameral system, meaning they perform identical functions, but do so separately.
