A. J. Jiménez
Antonio Jamil Jiménez (born May 1, 1990) is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball catcher, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Texas Rangers. Career Toronto Blue Jays Jiménez was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 9th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft. After signing with the team, he was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays and played in 19 games during the 2008 season, batting .191 with five RBI. In 2009, Jiménez was promoted to the Class-A Lansing Lugnuts and recorded a batting average of .263, in addition to hitting three home runs and 31 RBI. Jiménez played for Lansing, as well as the High-A Dunedin Blue Jays in the 2010 season, hitting a combined .299 with five home runs and 55 RBI over 72 games. His entire 2011 season was played with Dunedin, where he hit .303 with four home runs and 52 RBI in 102 games played. Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, sometimes referred to as Tommy John surgery is a surgical graft procedure where the ulnar collateral ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with either a tendon from elsewhere in the patient's body, or with one from a deceased donor. The procedure is common among collegiate and professional athletes in several sports, particularly in baseball. The surgery is performed to restore optimal function for repetitive elbow movements or specifically throwing ability, often extending the careers of professional athletes. In many athletes, the surgery is done more than once during their careers. The procedure was devised in 1974 by orthopedic surgeon Frank Jobe, a Los Angeles Dodgers team physician who served as a special advisor to the team until his death in 2014. The Buffalo Bisons (known colloquially as the Herd) are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.
