A. D. Flowers
A. D. Flowers (February 22, 1917July 5, 2001) was an American special effects artist best known for his work on ''Tora! Tora! Tora!,'' which won him an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 43rd Academy Awards. He was also a credited special effects artist for ''The Godfather'' and ''Apocalypse Now''. Flowers was born in Texas, and raised in Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, he relocated to California. There, he began an entry-level job at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He served in the United States Navy during World War II on . After being discharged from the service, he returned to California and continued to work in the film industry. He died at age 84 from complications of emphysema and pneumonia. Hillsboro, Texas
Hillsboro is a city in and the county seat of Hill County, Texas, Hill County, Texas, United States. The population was 8,221 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. History Hillsboro was named for Hill County. At one point during Bonnie and Clyde's robberies in Hillsboro, they took the Peterson family hostage at their own farm. Later the Petersons said that Bonnie and Clyde held them at gunpoint until they surrendered their barn for them to sleep in for a few nights before running again. The city is known for its abundance of restored Victorian homes and its historic county courthouse, which on January 1, 1993, was heavily damaged by an electrical fire. It was rebuilt, courtesy of donations from around the world and two concerts sponsored by Hill County native Willie Nelson. Greg Jein (born October 31, 1945 in Los Angeles, USA; died May 22, 2022) was a Chinese American model designer who created miniatures for use in the special effects portions of many films and television series, beginning in the 1970s. Jein was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for his work on the films ''Close Encounters of the Third Kind'' (1977) and ''1941'' (1979), and also nominated for an Outstanding Special Visual Effects Emmy for his work on ''Angels in America''. ''1941'' is a 1979 American comedy film directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. The film stars an ensemble cast including Dan Aykroyd, Ned Beatty, John Belushi, John Candy, Christopher Lee, Tim Matheson, Toshiro Mifune, Robert Stack, Nancy Allen, and Mickey Rourke in his film debut.
