83rd Oregon Legislative Assembly
The 83rd Oregon Legislative Assembly is the current session of the Oregon Legislative Assembly, Oregon Legislature. It began on January 21, 2025. Democrats netted one seat in both the Oregon House of Representatives, House and the Oregon State Senate, Senate to win a three-fifths supermajority in both chambers, which is required to pass new taxes or update existing taxes. However, they fell short of the two-thirds majority required to unilaterally meet quorum in both houses, needing 2 more seats in the Senate and 4 more seats in the House. Senate The Oregon State Senate is composed of 30 members. The 81st Oregon Legislative Assembly was the legislative session of the Oregon Legislative Assembly that convened on January 11, 2021 and adjourned June 26th. Its even-year short session of 35 days convened on February 1, 2022 and adjourned sine die on March 4, 2022. Cave Junction, Oregon
Cave Junction is a city in Josephine County, Oregon, United States. The city got its name by virtue of its location at the junction of Redwood Highway ( U.S. Route 199) and Caves Highway ( Oregon Route 46). As of the 2020 census, the city population was 2,071. Following World War II, timber became the main source of income for residents. As timber income has since declined, the city is attempting to compensate with tourism and branding itself as a haven for retirees. History For thousands of years, the Takelma Indians inhabited the Illinois Valley. Their culture was destroyed when gold was discovered in the early 1850s, causing the subsequent Rogue River Wars. Noah Robinson
Noah Edward Robinson is an American politician currently serving in the Oregon State Senate. A member of the Republican Party, he represents the 2nd district, which comprises all of Josephine County as well as southern Douglas County and northern Jackson County. He is the son of the previous senator to represent this district, Art Robinson. The elder Robinson was deemed ineligible to run for re-election due to his participation in the 2023 Oregon Senate walkout and the passage of Measure 113, which denied eligibility to run for re-election to any state legislator with 10 or more unexcused absences in a legislative session. Port Orford, Oregon
Port Orford ( Tolowa: tr’ee-ghi~’- ’an’ ) is a city in Curry County on the southern coast of Oregon, United States. The population was 1,133 at the 2010 census. The city takes its name from George Vancouver's original name for nearby Cape Blanco, which he named for George, Earl of Orford, "a much-respected friend." Port Orford is the westernmost settlement in the state of Oregon, and the westernmost incorporated place in the 48 contiguous states. David Brock Smith
David Brock Smith is an unelected American Republican politician currently serving in the Oregon State Senate. He represents the 1st district, which covers all of Curry County and parts of Coos and Douglas counties. Career Smith served on the Port Orford City Council and school board, as president of the North Curry County Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of the Curry County Planning Commission. Smith was elected to the Curry County Board of Commissioners in 2012. In 2013, an effort to recall Smith and fellow commissioner David Itzen was started, but this effort failed. As commissioner, he worked with U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley in an effort to combat the spread of sudden oak death in southwestern Oregon. Smith filed to run for the House in 2016.
