The 71st San Sebastián International Film Festival ran 22–30 September 2023 in San Sebastián, Gipuzkoa, Spain. The awards were announced on 30 September 2023, with '' The Rye Horn'' winning the Golden Shell, being the first film directed by a female Spanish director to win said award. The Boy And The Heron
is a 2023 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Produced by Studio Ghibli, the film's Japanese title references Genzaburō Yoshino's 1937 novel '' How Do You Live?'' but is not an adaptation of it. The film stars the voices of Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda, Ko Shibasaki, Aimyon, Yoshino Kimura, Takuya Kimura, Kaoru Kobayashi, and Shinobu Otake. Described as a "big, fantastical film", it follows a boy named Mahito Maki who moves to the countryside after his mother's death, discovers an abandoned tower near his new home, and enters a fantastical world with a talking grey heron. Miyazaki announced his retirement in September 2013 but later reversed this decision after working on the short film ''Boro the Caterpillar'' (2018). 2023 SAG-AFTRA Strike
From July 14 to November 9, 2023, the American actors' union SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) went on strike over a labor dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). Robert Lantos (born 3 April 1949) is a Hungarian-Canadian film producer. Life and career Lantos was born on 3 April 1949 in Budapest, the son of Ágnes (Bodor) and László Lantos, a mechanic and truck company owner. Cristina Gallego is a Colombian producer, writer and director. Career Gallego began her career in 2004 producing ''Wandering Shadows'', a film by her then husband Ciro Guerra. In 2009 while producing another Guerra film ''The Wind Journeys'' the pair befriended members of the Wayuu people, Wayuu community. They spent the following ten years researching material for their film ''Birds of Passage (film), Birds of Passage'' which follows a Wayuu people, Wayuu family as they abandon traditions and fall into the drug trade.
