The 4th Marine Logistics Group (4th MLG) is a reserve logistics unit of the United States Marine Corps. The group is headquartered at New Orleans, Louisiana while its subordinate units are spread across the United States. Swan Island (Oregon)
Swan Island is located on the Willamette River about downriver from downtown Portland, Oregon, United States. Although presently connected to the Willamette's east bank by Land reclamation, land fill, it existed as a river island under natural conditions. Swan Island and a nearby Bar (river morphology), bar posed an obstacle to river traffic during the 19th and early 20th centuries, with larger vessels being restricted to a narrow channel on the island's east side. Proposals on how to improve navigation around the island included widening one of its channels or removing the island completely. Swan Island was acquired by the Port of Portland (Oregon), Port of Portland in 1921. 6th Marine Division
The 6th Marine Division was a United States Marine Corps World War II infantry division formed in September 1944. During the invasion of Okinawa it saw combat at Yae-Take and Sugar Loaf Hill and was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation. The 6th Division had also prepared for the invasion of Japan before the war ended. After the war it served in Tsingtao, China, where the division was disbanded on April 1, 1946, being the only Marine division to be formed and disbanded overseas and never set foot in the United States.
