4RO
4RO is an AM radio station broadcasting to Central Queensland from Rockhampton, Queensland on 990 kHz. History The station was launched on 2 July 1932 and was the second station in Rockhampton - the first being 4RK, now ABC Capricornia. The opening of 4RO resulted in Rockhampton being the first regional town in Queensland, to have two radio stations on the air. Coverage of races and football were among the first items to be featured on 4RO's earliest transmissions on 2 July 1932. The station was officially opened that night by Rockhampton Mayor, JT Lee. 4RO's first studio was built on the corner of East and Denham Streets in Rockhampton's CBD. The studio was on the second floor of the building. An aerial that strung between two masts on the back of the building was responsible for transmitting a power of 200 watts. Rockhampton is a city in the Rockhampton Region of Central Queensland, Australia. The population of Rockhampton in June 2021 was 79,967, Estimated resident population, 30 June 2018. making it the fourth-largest city in the state outside of the cities of South East Queensland, and the 22nd-largest city in Australia. 4CC is a Classic Hit Radio-formatted commercial radio station broadcasting to Central Queensland from Gladstone on 927 kHz AM. History 4CC began broadcasting to the Central Queensland cities of Gladstone and Rockhampton in 1972 with the callsign 4CD, which remained its name until November 1985 when the station was purchased by Wesgo Ltd — a network organisation which also owned prominent stations 4KQ in Brisbane and 2WS (now WSFM). For the remainder of the 1980s, 4CC's format focused on the lucrative 25–39 age group, playing an Adult Contemporary music format. The station also maintained local programming from 5 am – 12 am each day of the week. RG Capital Radio in the radio industry was an Australian radio company, formed in 1995 by Reg Grundy with the acquisition of 90.9 Sea FM. ''The Morning Bulletin'' is an online newspaper servicing the city of Rockhampton and the surrounding areas of Central Queensland, Australia. From 1861 to 2020, ''The Morning Bulletin'' was published as a print edition, before then becoming an exclusively online newspaper. The final print edition was published on 27 June 2020. History The first issue of ''The Bulletin'' was launched on 9 July 1861. It is the second oldest business in Rockhampton, the oldest being the Criterion Hotel which was established in October 1860. The Stolen Generations (also known as Stolen Children) were the children of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent who were removed from their families by the Australian federal and state government agencies and church missions, under acts of their respective parliaments.
