4th Daytime Emmy Awards
The 4th Daytime Emmy Awards were held Thursday, May 12, 1977, on NBC to commemorate excellence in daytime programming from the previous year (1976). The live coverage held from Tavern on the Green restaurant in Central Park, New York. The fourth awards only had three categories, and thus three awards were given. Hosts were Peter Marshall, Chuck Woolery, Victoria Wyndham, Jack Gilford, and Soupy Sales with a special guest appearance by Gilda Radner of ''Saturday Night Live''. National Academy Of Television Arts And Sciences
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) is an American professional service organization founded in 1955 for "the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry". Headquartered in New York City, NATAS membership is national and the organization has local chapters around the country. It was also known as the National Television Academy until 2007. NATAS distributes several groups of Emmy Awards, including those for daytime, sports, and news and documentary programming. Larry Haines
Larry Haines (born Larry Hecht; August 3, 1918 – July 17, 2008) was an American actor. Early years Haines was born on August 3, 1918 in Mount Vernon, New York. (Some sources say August 18, 1918, in the same city). He had been active in dramatics in high school, and while he was in college, he was advised to try acting. After a few months of instruction in dramatics, he passed an audition with CBS. He dropped out during his sophomore year of college and "went right into radio working on little stations all around New York City," beginning at WWRL. ''Search for Tomorrow'' is an American television soap opera. It began its run on CBS on September 3, 1951, and concluded on NBC, 35 years later, on December 26, 1986. Set in the fictional town of Henderson in an unspecified state, the show focused primarily on the character of Joanne, known to the audience as "Jo." Actress Mary Stuart played Jo for the entire run. Val Dufour
Albert Valéry Dufour (February 5, 1927 – July 27, 2000), known as Val Dufour, was an American actor. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dufour's parents were of Parisian French descent. Dufour first appeared on episodic television in 1952, and amassed appearances on over a dozen series. He was best known for his role as John Wyatt on the soap opera ''Search for Tomorrow'', which he played from 1972 to 1979. Dufour won a Daytime Emmy Award for his performance in 1977. Farley Earle Granger Jr. (July 1, 1925 – March 27, 2011) was an American actor, best known for his two collaborations with director Alfred Hitchcock: ''Rope'' in 1948 and '' Strangers on a Train'' in 1951. James Turner Pritchett Jr. (October 27, 1922 – March 15, 2011) was an American actor, best known for his role as Dr. Matt Powers on the soap opera '' The Doctors''.- He was born in Lenoir, North Carolina in 1922.
