47 Bristol–Yate
The 47 was a bus route that operated between Bristol and Yate. It was operated by First West of England. History In 2021, evening and Sunday services on route 5 were withdrawn and the leg to Bromley Heath was removed. On 1 September 2022, First announced that route 5 would be withdrawn completely. Route 47 was introduced in October 2022 as a partial replacement for routes 5, Y3, Y4, and Y5. In late February 2023, First announced that the 47 would be withdrawn on 2 April, blaming low passenger numbers. It was replaced with route 25 operated by Transpora Bus which runs from Monday to Friday between Bristol city centre and Eastville. Another replacement service, route 525, was introduced between Emersons Green and Yate seven days a week operated by Stagecoach West. The route number was revived in 2024 for a route between Bristol City Centre and Oldbury Court, but this route is completely different from the original 47, mostly following the route of the 46, 48 and 49. St Pauls, Bristol
St Pauls (also written St Paul's) is an inner suburb of Bristol, England, lying just northeast of the city centre and west of the M32. It is bounded by the A38 (Stokes Croft), the B4051 (Ashley Road), the A4032 (Newfoundland Way) and the A4044 (Newfoundland Street), although the River Frome was traditionally the eastern boundary before the A4032 was constructed. St Pauls was laid out in the early 18th century as one of Bristol's first suburbs. History In the 1870s, the Brooks Dye Works opened on the edge of St Paul's and became a major local employer, leading to the construction of terraced houses. Together with migration to Bristol, both from overseas and within Britain, this led to St Paul's becoming a densely populated suburb by the Victorian era. Westerleigh
Westerleigh is a clustered village in the civil parish of Westerleigh and Coalpit Heath (which includes Henfield) in the South Gloucestershire district, in the ceremonial county of Gloucestershire, England, it contains sources of the Frome and has an endpoint of the Frome Valley Walkway. It is north of the M4, south of Yate and northeast of Bristol. In the south it includes a steep hill of its own from the crest of the Cotswold hills which is designated an AONB. Background The village is first mentioned in a Saxon document of 887AD. At that time it was probably just a clearing in the woods with possibly a wooden church. Fishponds is a suburb in the north-east of the English city of Bristol, about from Bristol city centre, the city centre. It is mainly residential, and housing is typically terraced Victorian. It has a small student population from the presence of the Glenside, Bristol, Glenside campus of the University of the West of England. Fishponds is home to Oldbury Court, a Victorian landscaped park. The River Frome, Bristol, River Frome runs through the area with the Frome Valley Walkway alongside it. A restored mill found at Snuff Mills has kept its original waterwheel, which can still be seen and heard turning. To the south-west of the neighbourhood is Eastville Park. Eastville is an inner suburban neighbourhood and an electoral ward in Bristol, England, located around northeast of The Centre. It is roughly centred on Muller Road between its junctions with Stapleton Road and Fishponds Road. Eastville is known for Eastville Park, a large park with a small lake, just to the east of the M32. The lake at Eastville Park was constructed as an unemployment relief scheme following a campaign by Ernest Bevin. The River Frome flows roughly south-southwest through the neighbourhood, and has been closely shadowed by the M32 motorway since its construction in the early 1970s. St Werburghs is an inner suburban neighbourhood in Bristol, England. It is in the Ashley electoral ward and Bristol Central parliamentary constituency, northeast of The Centre. St Werburghs does not have formal boundaries, but in typical usage encompasses an area roughly bounded by the Filton Bank railway to the northeast, M32 motorway to the southeast, Ashley Hill to the west, and the Ashley Vale escarpment to the north. Oldbury Court Estate is a park in Fishponds, Bristol, about north-east of the city centre. It is a park of Bristol City Council, and is listed Grade II in English Heritage's Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest.
