42nd César Awards
The 42nd César Awards ceremony, presented by the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma, was held on 24 February 2017, at the Salle Pleyel in Paris to honour the best French films of 2016. Jérôme Commandeur hosted the César Awards ceremony for the first time. The nominations were announced on 25 January 2017 by Academy president Alain Terzian and awards ceremony host Jérôme Commandeur. ''Divines (film), Divines'' and ''It's Only the End of the World'' won three awards each. Other films with multiple awards include ''Chocolat (2016 film), Chocolat'', ''My Life as a Courgette'' and ''Elle (film), Elle'' with two, with the latter film winning the César Award for Best Film, Best Film honour. Alain Terzian (born 2 May 1949) is a French-Armenian film producer, Administrator of Cannes Film Festival jury, and former President of Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma. He is the chief executive officer of ''Alter Films'' and the President of Union of French Producers, UPF. On 12 March 2009, among with Charles Aznavour, André Santini and Hélène Ségara he attended the opening ceremony of the Yerevan Park in the center of Paris. Paul Verhoeven (; born 18 July 1938) is a Dutch filmmaker, who has worked variously in the Netherlands, the United States, and in France.
