2 Close Support Battalion REME is a battalion of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers of the British Army. History The battalion was formed in 1993, through the re-designation of 7 Armoured Workshop, at St Barbara Barracks, Fallingbostel. The battalion's initial role was supporting 7th Armoured Brigade (United Kingdom), 7th Armoured Brigade, just like its predecessor unit did. Battalion
A battalion is a military unit, typically consisting of 300 to 1,200 soldiers commanded by a lieutenant colonel, and subdivided into a number of companies (usually each commanded by a major or a captain).
