24th Air Army
The 24th Air Army was an Air army (Soviet Union), Air army of the Soviet Air Forces, active from 1980, and probably inactivated in 1992. Its headquarters was located at Vinnitsa. Air Army (Soviet Union)
An air army was a type of formation of the Soviet Air Forces from 1936 until the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. Air armies continued to be used in the successor Russian Air Force until 2009, and, with a brief break under Serdyukov, from 2015. The first three Air Armies, designated 'Air Armies of Special Purpose' were created between 1936 and 1938. 2nd Air Army was created on 15 March 1937 in the Far East. Somewhat later, the 3rd Air Army was created in the North Caucasus Military District. However, air armies were excluded from the organisational reform of the air forces approved on 25 July 1940. Yak-28
The Yakovlev Yak-28 (russian: Яковлев Як-28) is a swept wing, turbojet-powered combat aircraft used by the Soviet Union. Produced initially as a tactical bomber, it was also manufactured in reconnaissance, electronic warfare, interceptor, and trainer versions, known by the NATO reporting names Brewer, Brewer-E, Firebar, and Maestro respectively. The Ukrainian Air Force ( uk, Пові́тряні си́ли Збро́йних сил Украї́ни) is the air force of Ukraine and one of the five branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Its headquarters are in the city of Vinnytsia. When the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, many aircraft were left in Ukrainian territory. Mirgorod Airport
Myrhorod is an air base of the Ukrainian Air Force located near Myrhorod, Poltava Oblast, Ukraine. The base is home to the 831st Tactical Aviation Brigade flying Sukhoi Su-27P/UB aircraft. History In May 1944 the airfield was provided to the United States Army Air Forces as a heavy bomber staging field. It was used by the Eighth and Fifteenth Air Forces for shuttle bombing missions during June through September 1944 (Operation Frantic). Bobrovichi is an air base in Belarus located 16 km northeast of Kalinovichi. It is a large airfield with two large tarmacs on either side, and two alert revetments holding about 10 fighters each. 7th Bomber And Reconnaissance Brigade (Ukraine)
The 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade ''"Petro Franko"'' is a formation of the Ukrainian Air Force. History The 7th Bomber Aviation Regiment was formed in 1951. In January 1992 the regiment took the oath of loyalty to the Ukrainian people. On October 2005 the former 32 Independent Reconnaissance Aviation Squadron at Kolminyya joined the brigade as its reconnaissance aviation squadron. In 2005–2006 the Brigade became first Ukrainian Air Force, Air Force formation to be composed of professional soldiers and not conscripts. Starokostiantyniv is an air base of the Ukrainian Air Force located near Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Ukraine. The base is home to the 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade "Petro Franko" flying Sukhoi Su-24M, Sukhoi Su-24MR, and Aero L-39C Albatros aircraft.
