2022 Indiana's 2nd Congressional District Special Election
The 2022 Indiana's 2nd congressional district special election was a special election to choose a new member of the U.S. House of Representatives. The seat became vacant after incumbent Congresswoman Jackie Walorski died in a traffic collision on August 3, 2022. In accordance with Title 3, Article 10, of the Indiana Code, a special election must be held for any U.S. House vacancy that occurs more than 74 days before the next general election. On August 9, Governor Eric Holcomb announced the special election was to be held concurrently with the general election on November 8. Parties held caucuses to nominate their candidates for the election; they had until August 26 to do so. Since the congressional district boundaries set in the 2020 redistricting cycle go into effect on January 3, 2023, the special election was conducted under the old district lines whereas the regular election on the same date was conducted under the new district lines. Rudy Yakym
Rudolph Chester Yakym III (born February 24, 1984) is an American politician and businessman who is the member of the U.S. House of Representatives representing Indiana's 2nd congressional district. He is a member of the Republican Party. Education Yakym earned an associate degree in business and a Bachelor of Science in finance and business administration from the Indiana University South Bend. The ''South Bend Tribune'' is a daily newspaper and news website which is based in South Bend, Indiana. It is distributed in South Bend, Mishawaka, north central Indiana, and southwestern Michigan. It has been named as a "Blue Ribbon Newspaper" (2006, 2016 and 2018) by the Hoosier State Press Association. It is the third largest daily broadsheet newspaper in the state of Indiana by circulation. Lakeville, Indiana
Lakeville is a town south of South Bend in Union Township, St. Joseph County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 786 at the 2010 Census. It is part of the South Bend–Mishawaka metropolitan area. History The area of Lakeville was first settled by Euro-Americans in 1836. The railroad in 1845 spurred further growth. By the 1890s there were 13 one-room school houses in the vicinity. In 1898 they were consolidated into one two-story elementary school in Lakeville. The town of Lakeville was incorporated in 1902. Marlin Andrew Stutzman (born August 31, 1976) is an American politician who was a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Indiana's 3rd congressional district, from 2010 to 2017.
