2020 Pulitzer Prize
The 2020 Pulitzer Prizes were awarded by the Pulitzer Prize Board for work during the 2019 calendar year. Prize winners and nominated finalists were initially scheduled to be announced by Pulitzer administrator Dana Canedy on April 20, 2020, but were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and instead announced by Canedy in a video presentation on May 4, 2020. Dana Canedy
Dana Canedy (born June 8, 1965) is an American journalist, author, and publishing executive who worked at the ''New York Times'' for over 20 years, winning a Pulitzer Prize in 2001. She was appointed senior vice president and publisher of Simon & Schuster's flagship eponymous imprint in July 2020. She is the first African-American to head a "major publishing imprint". From 2017 to 2020, she served as administrator of the Pulitzer Prizes. Early life and career Canedy was born in Indianapolis and grew up in Radcliff, Kentucky, near Fort Knox, in a military family. She graduated from the University of Kentucky and worked at ''The Palm Beach Post'' and ''The Plain Dealer'' before joining ''The New York Times'' in 1996. She was named a senior editor at ''The New York Times'' in 2006. Nikole Hannah-Jones
Nikole Sheri Hannah-Jones (born April 9, 1976) is an American investigative journalist, known for her coverage of civil rights in the United States. In April 2015, she became a staff writer for ''The New York Times.'' The Pulitzer Prize for Commentary is an award administered by the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism "for distinguished commentary, using any available journalistic tool". It is one of the fourteen American Pulitzer Prizes that are annually awarded for Journalism. It has been presented since 1970. Ben Taub (born January 9, 1991) is an American journalist who is a staff writer for ''The New Yorker'' magazine. He has written for the magazine about a range of subjects related to jihadism, crime, conflict, and human rights, mostly in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Life Taub attended Princeton University as an undergraduate student and graduated with an A.B. in philosophy in 2014.
