2018–19 LEB Oro Season
The 2018–19 LEB Oro season was the 23rd season of the Spanish basketball second league. It started on 5 October 2018 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 2 June 2019 with the final. Format changes On 2 June 2018, the General Assembly of the Spanish Basketball Federation agreed some changes in the competition format: * The three last qualified teams will be relegated to LEB Plata. * The semifinals and the final will be played as a Final Four, where the winner will be promoted to Liga ACB. Liga Española De Baloncesto
The Liga Española de Baloncesto, also known as LEB Oro, is the second basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system after the Liga ACB. It is run by the FEB. The Liga Española de Baloncesto is divided into two categories (the other one is the LEB Plata). The LEB league was founded in 1996 and is played under FIBA rules. It was renamed LEB Oro in 2007. The league is contested by 18 clubs. Each season, the top-finishing team in the LEB Oro are automatically promoted to the Liga ACB. The teams that finish the season in 2nd to 9th place enter a playoff tournament, with the winner also gaining promotion to the Liga ACB. The three lowest-finishing teams in the LEB Oro are relegated to LEB Plata. A total of 78 teams have competed in LEB Oro since its inception in 1996. 19 teams have been crowned champions and 30 teams have gained promotion to Liga ACB, of which only five teams could not play in Liga ACB. The LEB Plata is the third basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system and the second basketball division organized by the Spanish Basketball Federation. Since 2019, three teams are promoted to LEB Oro and six teams are relegated to Liga EBA. CB Bahía San Agustín, more commonly known as Palmer Alma Mediterrànea Palma by sponsorship reasons, is a basketball team based in Palma, Spain. Club Ourense Baloncesto, S.A.D., more commonly referred to today by its sponsorship name of Río Ourense Termal, is a professional basketball team based in Ourense, Spain. The team currently plays in league LEB Oro. History Founded in 1978 as Club Bosco-Salesianos, the club achieved its first success promoting to Segunda División in 1984. Two years later, Ourense advances to Primera División B, the second tier, where it plays three seasons before promoting to Liga ACB in 1989 as champion of the league. Club Baloncesto Peñas Huesca is a Spanish professional Basketball team based in Huesca, Aragón. The team currently plays in league LEB Plata. History The team played in Liga ACB, where they stayed from 1983 to 1996. After winning the relegation play-off, the sold their spot in the league to Baloncesto Fuenlabrada and they joined the new second tier league, Liga LEB. Amics del Bàsquet Castelló, also known as TAU Castelló for sponsorship reasons, is a basketball team based in Castellón de la Plana, Spain. It was founded in 1994 and currently plays in LEB Oro. Fundación Club Baloncesto Granada, also known as Covirán Granada by sponsorship reasons, is a basketball team based in Granada, Andalusia, Spain that currently plays in Liga ACB. The 2017–18 LEB Plata season was the 18th season of the Spanish basketball third league. It started on 29 September 2017 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 5 June 2018 with the final.
