2018 Venezuelan Municipal Elections
Municipal elections were held in Venezuela on 9 December 2018, aimed at choosing only the 2459 municipality councillors of Venezuela. Background Following the 2018 Venezuelan presidential election, municipal elections were quickly organized throughout Venezuela. The National Electoral Council proposed the election date of 9 December 2018, which in turn was approved by the Constituent National Assembly on 13 July 2018. Conduct Many voting centers were seen empty due to low participation. Members of the state-run CLAP were ordered to participate in the elections with the government offering food products to those who were involved. Results Official results showed that only 27.4% of eligible voters participated in the election compared to 47.3% in 2017. Agreement for Change (Spanish: ) was a Venezuelan coalition created on June 21, 2018 by former 2018 presidential candidate and Chavismo defector Henri Falcón. 2018 Venezuelan Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Venezuela on 20 May 2018, with incumbent Nicolás Maduro being declared re-elected for a second six-year term. The National Electoral Council ( es, Consejo Nacional Electoral) (CNE) is one of the five branches of government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela that was designed to be independent. Local Committees For Supply And Production
The Local Committees for Supply and Production (Spanish: ''Comité Local de Abastecimiento y Producción'', CLAP) are food distribution committees promoted by the Venezuelan government in which the communities themselves supply and distribute the priority foods through a house-to-house delivery method. It was established in 2016 by President Nicolás Maduro in response to the ongoing shortages in Venezuela. The committees have been subject of complaints about corruption, political use, delays, poor food quality and price increases without prior warning.
