2018 Lampung Gubernatorial Election
The 2018 Lampung gubernatorial election took place on 27 June 2018 as part of the simultaneous local elections in Indonesia. It was held to elect the governor of Lampung along with their deputy, whilst members of the provincial council (''Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah'') will be re-elected in 2019. Candidates included incumbent governor Muhammad Ridho Ficardo who ran for his second term, Bandar Lampung mayor Herman Hasanusi, Central Lampung Regency, Central Lampung regent Mustafa and provincial secretary Arinal Djunaidi. Timeline Registration for party-backed candidates were opened between 8 and 10 January 2018, while independent candidates were required to register between 22 and 26 November 2017. The numerical order of the candidates were determined on 13 February through a lottery. The Gerindra Party (acronym for , ) is a political party in Indonesia. Formed in 2008, Gerindra serves as the political vehicle of former general Prabowo Subianto. It is presently the third-largest party in the House of Representatives, where it has 78 seats. Gerindra had positioned itself as an opposition party, but in 2019 it joined President Joko Widodo's Onward Indonesia Cabinet, despite Prabowo having run against Widodo in Indonesia's 2014 and 2019 presidential elections. Central Lampung Regency is a regency of the province of Lampung, on Sumatra, Indonesia. It has an area of 4,545.50 km2 and had a population of 1,170,048 people at the 2010 census and 1,460,045 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 1,477,395.
