The 2012–13 2. Bundesliga was the 39th season of the 2. Bundesliga, Germany's second-level football league. 2000–01 Regionalliga
The 2000–01 season of the Regionalliga was the seventh season of the league at tier three (III) of the German football league system. The Regionalliga was split into two divisions, the Regionalliga Nord and the Regionalliga Süd (1994–2012), Regionalliga Süd. The champions of each, 1. FC Union Berlin and Karlsruher SC, were promoted to the 2001–02 2. Bundesliga, along with northern runners-up SV Babelsberg 03 and southern third placed team 1. FC Schweinfurt 05. Away Goals Rule
The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Under the away goals rule, if the total goals scored by each team are equal, the team that has scored more goals " away from home" wins. This is sometimes expressed by saying that away goals "count double" in the event of a tie, though in practice the team with more away goals is simply recorded as the victor, rather than having additional or 'double' goals added to their total. The away goals rule is most often invoked in two-leg fixtures, where the initial result is determined by the aggregate score — i.e. the scores of both games are added together. Karlsruher SC
Karlsruher SC is a German association football club, based in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg that currently plays in the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of German football. The German football league system, or league pyramid, refers to the hierarchically interconnected league system for association football in Germany that in the 2016–17 season consisted of 2,235 leagues in up to 13 levels having 31,645 teams, in which all divisions are bound together by the principle of promotion and relegation. The top three professional levels contain one division each. Below this, the semi-professional and amateur levels have progressively more parallel divisions, which each cover progressively smaller geographic areas. Teams that finish at the top of their division at the end of each season can rise higher in the pyramid, while those that finish at the bottom find themselves sinking further down.
