2012 Rostelecom Cup
The 2012 Rostelecom Cup was the fourth event of six in the 2012–13 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Ice Palace Megasport in Moscow on November 8–11. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Skaters earned points toward qualifying for the 2012–13 Grand Prix Final. Eligibility Skaters who reached the age of 14 by July 1, 2012 were eligible to compete on the senior Grand Prix circuit. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. Single Skating
Single skating is a discipline of figure skating in which male and female skaters compete individually. Men's singles and women's singles are governed by the International Skating Union (ISU). Figure skating is the oldest winter sport contested at the Olympics, with men's and women's single skating appearing as two of the four figure skating events at the London Games in 1908. Single skaters are required to perform two segments in all international competitions, the short program and the free skating program. Alexander Gazsi
Alexander Gazsi (born 6 October 1984) is a German ice dancer. With partner Nelli Zhiganshina, he is a six-time German national champion (2007, 2011–2015) and has won twelve international medals. They have placed as high as 6th at the European Championships and 10th at the World Championships. Personal life Alexander Gazsi was born on 6 October 1984 in Chemnitz, East Germany. His mother is a German from Kazakhstan and his father is Hungarian. He is in the sports division of the German army. Career Early years Gazsi began skating in 1988 at the age of four. Nelli Nailevna Zhiganshina (russian: Нелли Наильевна Жиганшина; born 31 March 1987) is a Russian-born German ice dancer. With Alexander Gazsi, she is a six-time German national champion (2007, 2011–2015) and has won twelve international medals. They have placed as high as 6th at the European Championships and 10th at the World Championships. Personal life Nelli Zhiganshina was born on 31 March 1987 in Moscow. She is the elder sister of Ruslan Zhiganshin, who is a competitive ice dancer for Russia. Their mother is a children's skating coach. Zhiganshina passed a German citizenship test in 2011 and filed documents to renounce her Russian citizenship, as required by Germany. Nicholas "Nick" Buckland (born 9 June 1989) is a former English competitive ice dancer who represented Great Britain. With partner Penny Coomes, he is the 2014 European bronze medalist and has won six other international medals. They are also five-time British national champions (2012–2014, 2016, 2018), and they have also competed three-times at the Winter Olympics in 2010, 2014 and 2018. Personal life Nicholas Buckland was born on 9 June 1989 in Nottingham, England. He studied law at Nottingham Trent University. With partner Nicholas Buckland, she is the 2014 European Figure Skating Championships bronze medalist and has won six other international medals. Michal Březina (; born 30 March 1990) is a retired Czech figure skater. He is the 2013 European bronze medalist, 2011 Skate America champion, 2009 World Junior silver medalist and four-time Czech national champion. He also won the 2014-15 ISU Challenger Series. Nicole Orford (born October 10, 1992) is a Canadian former ice dancer. With former partner Thomas Williams, she placed fifth at the 2014 Four Continents Championships. Rudi Swiegers (born August 31, 1987) is a Canadian retired pair skater. With previous partner Paige Lawrence, he is the 2011 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, Four Continents bronze medalist and a four-time Canadian Figure Skating Championships, Canadian national bronze medalist (2011–14). Paige Lawrence (born February 22, 1990) is a Canadian former competitive pair skater. With former partner Rudi Swiegers, she is the 2011 Four Continents bronze medallist and a four-time Canadian national bronze medallist (2011–14).
