2012 Melbourne Vixens Season
The 2012 Melbourne Vixens season saw Melbourne Vixens compete in the 2012 ANZ Championship season, 2012 ANZ Championship. With a team captained by Bianca Chatfield and featuring Madison Browne, Julie Corletto and Geva Mentor, Vixens finished the season as minor premiers. In the major semi-final they defeated Northern Mystics 56–50. This was the first ever netball match held at Rod Laver Arena. However they lost the grand final 41–38 to Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and finished the season as runners-up. After five years as head coach of Vixens, Julie Hoornweg announced her retirement at the end of the 2012 season. Eloise Southby-Halbish
Eloise Southby-Halbish (born 6 July 1976) is an Australian sports commentator and former netball player. She was co-captain of the Melbourne Phoenix with fellow goaler, Sharelle McMahon, and also played for the Australia national netball team. Netball career Southby-Halbish appeared in 132 Commonwealth Bank Trophy matches for the Phoenix and represented Australia in 34 Tests in the positions goal shooter and goal attack. Identified early in her career as a highly talented shooting prospect, Southby-Halbish made her international debut in early 1998, at the age of 21. Southby-Halbish's arrival on the international scene coincided with a period where Australia was rich in shooting talent - with the likes of Vicki Wilson, Nicole Cusack, and Jennifer Borlase all laying claim to the main shooting positions. Adelaide Thunderbirds
Adelaide Thunderbirds are an Australian netball team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship and between 1997 and 2007, they played in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. Thunderbirds have won four premierships. They won their first two premierships in 1998 and 1999 during the Commonwealth Bank Trophy era and their third and fourth in 2010 and 2013 during ANZ Championship era. Southern Steel
Southern Steel are a New Zealand netball team based in Invercargill. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017 they have represented Netball South in the ANZ Premiership. Netball South is the governing body that represents Southland and Otago. In 2017 they won their first premiership when they were the inaugural ANZ Premiership winners. In 2018 they won their second premiership when they retained the title. In 2017 Steel were the inaugural winners of the Netball New Zealand Super Club tournament. ANZ Championship
The ANZ Championship, also known as the Trans-Tasman Netball League, is a former netball league featuring teams from both Australia and New Zealand. Between 2008 and 2016, it was the top-level league in both countries. The competition was owned and administered by Trans-Tasman Netball League Ltd (TTNL), a joint venture between Netball Australia and Netball New Zealand. Sarah Wall (born 16 October 1984) is an Australian netball player. She currently plays for Giants Netball in the Suncorp Super Netball competition, as an injury replacement player. She has previously played for the New South Wales Swifts. In 2005 she played her first year of elite netball, for the Melbourne Phoenix in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. Tegan Alyce Philip (née Caldwell; born 3 September 1988) is a retired Australian Netball player, who for her entire professional career played for the Melbourne Vixens in the ANZ Championship and Suncorp Super Netball competitions. Kelsey Browne
Kelsey Browne (born 17 January 1992) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for the Collingwood Magpies. Career Browne began her professional netball career as a replacement player for the Melbourne Vixens in the 2015 ANZ Championship season. She played for the Victorian-based club for two seasons before having a breakout year in 2017 at the Sunshine Coast Lightning in the new Super Netball league, where she developed a reputation as one of the most ruthless wing-attack players in the competition. Kate Beveridge
Kate Beveridge (born 25 July 1985) is a former Australian netball player who played in the ANZ Championship for the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2008–2010, Melbourne Vixens in 2011–2012 and West Coast Fever in 2013-2017. Beveridge is known for her long range goal attempts, high arcing shots and very high accuracy rate. She is also known for her unique shooting style, having her arms straight while shooting. She was chosen to play for the Australian Netball Diamonds in 2008-2011. Sharelle McMahon
Sharelle Jane McMahon (born 12 August 1977) is an Australian former netball player who captained the Australia national netball team. She played in the goal attack and goal shooter positions. Domestic career Born in Bamawm, Victoria, McMahon captained the Melbourne Vixens in the ANZ Championship and played 11 seasons for the Melbourne Phoenix (as a captain for four seasons) in the previous Commonwealth Bank Trophy. Kathleen Knott
Kathleen Knott (born 19 September 1987) is an Australian netball player in the ANZ Championship, playing for the Melbourne Vixens. Knott previously played with the Melbourne Kestrels (2007) in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. Knott was a part of the 2009 Vixens premiership side.
