2011 British Columbia New Democratic Party Leadership Election
The British Columbia New Democratic Party leadership convention of 2011 was prompted by Carole James's announcement on December 6, 2010 that she would be resigning as leader of the party. The convention was held on April 17, 2011 at the Vancouver Convention Centre with voting occurring by telephone and via internet on that date and through advance voting. Adrian Dix was elected leader, narrowly defeating rival Mike Farnworth on the third ballot. Adrian Dix 2016
Adrian is a form of the Latin language, Latin given name Adrianus (given name), Adrianus or Hadrianus (other), Hadrianus. Nelson-Creston
Nelson-Creston is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. It made its first appearance on the hustings in the general election of 1933 following a redistribution of the earlier Nelson riding. Historically, the riding was consistently held by the "free enterprise" party of the era. Until 1952, this alternated between the BC Liberals and the Coalition, while after the election in 1952, Social Credit won every election until the BC NDP victory in 1972. Since 1972, the NDP has won all but two elections: in the 1986 election, Social Credit won the riding along with many others in the Interior and in 2001, prominent NDP Cabinet minister Corky Evans was defeated in an election that saw all but two NDP MLAs suffer defeat. Anita Hagen
Anita Mae Joan Hagen (May 6, 1931 – June 5, 2015) was a Canadian politician, who served as a New Democratic Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1986 to 1996, representing the riding of New Westminster. She took on the high-profile posts of Deputy Premier of British Columbia and Minister of Education when the NDP formed government in 1991, but stepped down from cabinet in 1993. Pietro Calendino
Pietro Attilio Calendino is a Canadian provincial and municipal politician currently serving as a city councillor for Burnaby City Council. Calendino was born in Calabria, Italy but emigrated to Vancouver in 1959. He received an Honours B.A. and a M.A. (Languages) from the University of British Columbia. He received a teaching certificate from Simon Fraser University and has taught in secondary schools in Burnaby and Delta. He helped found the BC Heritage Languages Association. He has served as president of the BC Association of Teachers of Modern Languages, director of the Burnaby Multicultural Society and vice-president of the National Congress of Italian Canadians. Lois Ruth Boone (born April 26, 1947) is a Canadians, Canadian politician. Vancouver East (french: Vancouver-Est) is a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1935.
