Regional Council Of Basilicata
The Regional Council of Basilicata (''Consiglio Regionale della Basilicata'') is the legislative assembly of Basilicata. It was first elected in 1970, when the ordinary regions were instituted, on the basis of the Constitution of Italy of 1948. Composition The Regional Council of Basilicata was originally composed of 30 regional councillors. Following the decree-law n. 138 of 13 August 2011 the number of regional councillors was reduced to 20, with an additional seat reserved for the President of the Region. The Province of Potenza ( it, Provincia di Potenza; Potentino: ) is a province in the Basilicata region of southern Italy. Its capital is the city of Potenza. Geography It has an area of and a total population of 369,538 (as of 2017). There are 100 ''comuni'' (singular: comune) in the province (see Comuni of the Province of Potenza). Vito De Filippo (born 27 August 1963) is an Italian politician and member of the Democratic Party. He served as the president of Basilicata from 6 May 2005 until his resignation on 24 April 2013 during his second term. Biography Born in Sant'Arcangelo, Basilicata, he graduated in philosophy with honors and became a journalist, and collaborated with philosophy magazines and various national and local newspapers. He also worked for a local TV. His political activity began at the age of 26 in the Provincial Council of Potenza; he held the office of provincial health Assessor and vice president of the province. I the South (''Io Sud'', IS), was a conservative regionalist political party in Italy, which has been a faction of Brothers of Italy since 2014. The party emerged in 2009 as an Apulian split from National Alliance (AN) led by Adriana Poli Bortone, shortly before AN was merged into The People of Freedom (PdL).
