Shalom Simhon ( he, שלום שמחון, born 7 December 1956) is an Israeli politician and former member of the Knesset for Independence and the Labor Party. He previously served as the Minister of Industry, Trade and Labour and Minister of Minorities in the Israeli cabinet. Avraham Shochat ( he, אברהם שוחט, born 14 June 1936) is an Israeli former politician who twice served as Minister of Finance. He served as mayor of Arad for 20 years. Biography Avraham ("Beiga") Shochat was born in Tel Aviv during the Mandate era. After serving in the Israel Defense Forces as a corporal in the Nahal paratroopers, he attended the Technion, where he gained a BSc in Civil engineering, also being elected chairman of the university's Student Union during his studies.
