2002 Skate America
The 2002 Skate America was the first event of six in the 2002–03 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington on October 23–27. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Skaters earned points toward qualifying for the 2002–03 Grand Prix Final. The compulsory dance was the Austrian Waltz. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. Compulsory Dance
The compulsory dance (CD), now called the pattern dance, is a part of the figure skating segment of ice dance competitions in which all the competing couples perform the same standardized steps and holds to the music of a specified tempo and genre. One or more compulsory dances were usually skated as the first phase of ice dancing competitions. The 2009–10 season was the final season in which the segment was included in International Skating Union (ISU) junior and senior level competition. In June 2010, the ISU replaced the name "compulsory dance" with "pattern dance" for ice dance, and merged it into the short dance (SD) beginning in the 2010–11 figure skating season. The first CDs were developed during the 1930s by teams from Great Britain, who dominated ice dance for most of the early years after the sport was contested at the 1952 World Championships. Ludmila Nelidina
Ludmila Nelidina (russian: Людмила Нелидина; born 7 December 1984) is a Russian former competitive figure skater. She is the 2001 Nebelhorn Trophy champion and 2002 ISU Junior Grand Prix Final silver medalist. Career Nelidina competed for Russia until 1998, when she briefly switched to competing for Azerbaijan. She switched back to skating for Russia the following year. Her highest placement at a senior-level ISU Championship was 13th at the 2003 World Championships. During her career, she was coached by Tatiana Pomerantseva, Zhanna Gromova, and Viktor Kudriavtsev. Nelidina landed a triple Axel in competition at the 2002 Skate America. Yukari Nakano
is a Japanese former competitive figure skater. She is the 2006 Four Continents silver medalist, the 2003 Four Continents bronze medalist, the 2005–06 Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, the 2007 Asian Winter Games champion, and a three-time (2006, 2007, 2009) Japanese national bronze medalist. Nakano is one of twelve female skaters to perform a triple Axel in international competition. Personal life Yukari Nakano was born on August 25, 1985 in Kōnan, Aichi Prefecture. is a Japanese former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time Ondrej Nepela Memorial champion, the 2003 Winter Universiade bronze medalist, and a three-time Japan national medalist. Sergei Davydov (figure Skater)
Sergei Dmitriyevich Davydov (russian: Серге́й Дмитриевич Давыдов, born 2 March 1979 in Rostov-on-Don) is a former competitive figure skater who represented Belarus and Russia. For Belarus, he is the 2006 Cup of China silver medalist, two-time Nebelhorn Trophy champion, and eight-time (2001–2008) Belarusian national champion. Derrick Delmore (born December 12, 1978) is an American figure skater. He is the 1998 World Junior champion, the 2000 Nebelhorn Trophy silver medalist, 2000 Karl Schäfer Memorial bronze medalist, and 1999 U.S. National Collegiate champion. Emanuel Sandhu (born November 18, 1980) is a Canadian figure skater and dancer. He is the 2004 Grand Prix Final champion and a three-time Canadian national champion. Michael Weiss (born August 2, 1976) is an American former competitive and currently professional figure skater. He is in the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame and is a three-time national champion (1999, 2000, 2003) a two-time World bronze medalist (1999, 2000), and a two-time Olympic team member.
