25th Airborne Brigade (Ukraine)
The 25th Separate Airborne Brigade "Sicheslav" (; 25 ОПДБр, А1126) is an airborne formation of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. The brigade is the only airborne unit of Ukrainian Air Assault Forces which possesses BMD-1 and BMD-2 airborne infantry fighting vehicles, and is the only unit which can be deployed anywhere by parachute, together with armored vehicles, from Il-76MD aircraft. History Between 25 June and 11 August 1969, the 217th Guards Airborne Regiment (Base #11389 ilitary Unit No.11389? of the 98th Guards Airborne Division of the Soviet Airborne Forces was located in Bolhrad, Odesa Oblast, now in modern Ukraine. After the dissolution of the USSR, the 98th Guards Airborne Division was split between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Ukrainian Air Assault Forces
The Air Assault Forces of Ukraine ( AAFU; , , ), known until 2017 as the Ukrainian Airmobile Forces, are the airborne forces of Ukraine. After the Dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, several Ukraine-based units from the Soviet Airborne Forces were absorbed into the newly created Ukrainian Ground Forces, where they remained until 2016, when they separated to become one of five Military branch, branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Air Assault Forces are in constant combat readiness. Soviet Airborne Forces
The Soviet Airborne Forces or VDV (from ''Vozdushno- desantnye voyska SSSR'', Russian: Воздушно-десантные войска СССР, ВДВ; Air-landing Forces) was a separate troops branch of the Soviet Armed Forces. First formed before the Second World War, the force undertook two significant airborne operations and a number of smaller jumps during the war and for many years after 1945 was the largest airborne force in the world. 6th Army Corps (Ukraine)
The 6th Army Corps () was one of three army corps of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. The Corps was headquartered in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine. Its units were spread across Poltava Oblast, Sumy Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, and Kirovohrad Oblast. The Corps was formed in 1993 after the collapse of the Soviet Union from a redesignation of the former Soviet 6th Guards Tank Army. It was disbanded in 2013 when the Ukrainian Ground Forces were reorganized, being replaced by Operational Command South. History The 6th Guards Tank Army had incorporated three tank divisions, the 17th Guards, 42nd, and 75th Guards. However the later two were disbanded by 1991−92. Hvardiiske, Novomoskovsk Raion
Zarichne (), formerly known as Hvardiiske (), is a rural settlement in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine. It is part of Samar Raion. Zarichne is located on the left bank of the Samara River, about upstream from Cherkaske. It belongs to Cherkaske settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: According to the 2001 census, population was 5,199. Zarichne is better known for housing the 25th Airborne Brigade (Ukraine) (since summer of 2002) and originally was established in 1957 as a military base for the 42nd Guards Tank Division. The town was named for the Guards designation of the unit. Until 26 January 2024, Hvardiiske was designated urban-type settlement. On this day, a new law entered into force which abolished this status, and Hvardiiske became a rural settlement. On 19 September 2024, the Verkhovna Rada voted to rename Hvardiiske to Zarichne.
