The 2025–26 season will be the 129th season of competitive football in Scotland. The domestic season is scheduled to begin in mid-July with the first Scottish League Cup group stage matches, and the first round of matches in the 2025–26 Scottish Premiership are due to be played on the weekend of 1–3 August. 2025–26 Lowland Football League
The 2025–26 Scottish Lowland Football League (known as the Park's Motor Group Scottish Lowland Football League for sponsorship reasons) is the 13th season of the Lowland Football League, part of the fifth tier of the Scottish football pyramid system. This will be the last season in the league's current format ahead of the league splitting into Lowland League East and Lowland League West ahead of season 2026–27, with no relegation taking place this season irrespective of results. East Kilbride were the reigning champions but were unable to defend their title following their promotion to Scottish League Two. SFWA Manager Of The Year
The Scottish Football Writers' Association Manager of the Year (often called the SFWA Manager of the Year, or simply the Scottish Manager of the Year) award is given to the manager in Scottish football who is seen to have been the best manager of the previous season. The award is voted for by the members of the Scottish Football Writers' Association. The award was first given in 1987, and was won by Dundee United boss Jim McLean. The award has been won by a manager in the top division of the Scottish football league system in all but two years, 1990, when the award went to Scotland manager Andy Roxburgh and 1995 when the award was given to Jimmy Nicholl who managed Raith Rovers in the First Division. SFWA Young Player Of The Year
The Scottish Football Writers' Association Young Player of the Year (often called the SFWA Young Player of the Year, or simply the Scottish Young Player of the Year) award is given to the footballer in the Scottish football league system, who is seen to have been the best young (under 23) player of the previous season. The shortlist is compiled by the members of the Scottish Football Writers' Association (the SFWA), who also vote for the winner. The Scottish Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year (often called the SFWA Footballer of the Year, or simply the Scottish Footballer of the Year) is an annual award given to the player who is adjudged to have been the best of the season in Football in Scotland, Scottish football. The award has been presented since the 1964–65 in Scottish football, 1964–65 season, and the winner is selected by a vote amongst the members of the Scottish Football Writers' Association (SFWA), which comprises over 100 football journalists based throughout Scotland. PFA Scotland Manager Of The Year
The PFA Scotland Manager of the Year is awarded by the Professional Footballers' Association Scotland to the football manager in Scottish football who is seen to have been the best manager over the previous season. The award replaced, and is considered a direct continuation of, the SPFA Manager of the Year award which was awarded just once, in the 2006–07 season to Celtic boss Gordon Strachan.
