2025–26 Highland Football League
The 2025–26 Highland Football League (known as the Breedon Highland League for sponsorship reasons) will be the 123rd season of the Highland Football League, and the 12th season as part of the fifth tier of the Scottish football pyramid system. Brora Rangers are the reigning champions. Due to restructuring of the Lowland League from 2026 to 2027 into two 16-team divisions, Brechin City will transfer into the Lowland League East in 2026–27 if they do not achieve promotion by winning the Highland League and the Pyramid Playoff. Highland Football League
The Scottish Highland Football League (SHFL, commonly known as the Highland League) is a senior football league based in the north of Scotland. The league sits at level 5 on the Scottish football league system, acting as a feeder to the Scottish Professional Football League. Founded in 1893, it is currently composed of 18 member clubs in a single division. Geographically, the league covers Scotland north of the Tay, including the Highland council region as well as Moray, Aberdeenshire, the cities of Aberdeen and Dundee, Angus and parts of northern Perthshire. Since 2014–15, it has featured in the senior pyramid system. The winners take part in an end-of-season promotion play-off with the Lowland Football League champions, with the winners then competing against the bottom club in Scottish League Two for a place in the SPFL. Buckie () is a burgh town (defined as such in List of burghs in Scotland, 1888) on the Moray Firth coast of Scotland. Brora ( ; ) is a village in the east of Sutherland, in the Highland (council area), Highland area of Scotland. Origin of the name The name ''Brora'' is derived from Old Norse and means "river with a bridge". History Brora is a small industrial village, having at one time a coal pit, boat building, salt pans, fish curing, lemonade factory, the new Clynelish Distillery (as well as the old Clynelish distillery which is now called the Brora distillery ), wool mill, bricks and a stone quarry. Glebe Park (known as the "Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park" for sponsorship reasons) is a association football, football stadium in Brechin, Scotland, which is the home ground of Brechin City F.C., Brechin City. Glebe Park opened in 1919. The ground had just one portable stand, which had been used at the Perth, Scotland, Perth agricultural show. Brechin City joined the Scottish Football League in 1929–30 in Scottish football, 1929, when a pavilion was added and the Cemetery End terrace was covered. The biggest ever attendance was 8,123, against Aberdeen F.C., Aberdeen in a Scottish Cup tie played on 3 February 1973. This attendance was greater than the population of Brechin. Brechin (; ) is a town and former royal burgh in Angus, Scotland. Traditionally Brechin was described as a city because of its cathedral and its status as the seat of a pre-Scottish Reformation, Reformation Roman Catholic diocese (which continues today as an Bishop, episcopal seat of the Scottish Episcopal Church), but that status has not been officially recognised in the modern era.
