2025 Étoile De Bessèges
The 2025 Étoile de Bessèges – Tour du Gard () was a road cycling stage race that took place between 5 and 9 February 2025 almost entirely within the French department of Gard. The race was rated as a category 2.1 event on the 2025 UCI Europe Tour calendar and was the 55th edition of the Étoile de Bessèges. 2025 UCI Europe Tour
The 2025 UCI Europe Tour is the 21st season of the UCI Europe Tour. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determined how many points were awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points were awarded. Vauvert
Vauvert (; ) is a commune in the far south of the Gard department in southern France. It was known as ''Posquières'' in the Middle Ages. The commune comprises the town of Vauvert and the villages of Gallician and Montcalm.Vauvert at Carmargue.fr accessed 11 August 2007 Over a third of the population work in industry, which is largely the food industry, especially wine production. The original settlement was called Posquières and was first mentioned in a document of 810. Since then the town has increased in importance and has had a rich history. Arnaud De Lie (born 16 March 2002) is a Belgian professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam , having been promoted from the team at the end of the 2021 season. Career De Lie opened his first professional season in 2022 with the Vuelta a Mallorca races. He finished 71st and 117th in the first two races and won the fourth race Trofeo Playa de Palma in a bunch sprint against Juan Sebastián Molano, his first professional victory. After his win in Mallorca, he won eight more races in the season, finishing in 13th position in the end of year rankings as the best rider for . He scored many points in the battle to avoid relegation but his team was relegated to the second division. In 2023, De Lie again started the season in Spain, winning his season opener: the Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana 1969. Bessèges
Bessèges (; ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Gard Departments of France, department in France. It is situated on the river Cèze. History Historically Bessèges was a hamlet of Robiac-Rochessadoule, Robiac. Its importance began with the opening of a coal mine in 1809, followed by an iron and steel plant in 1833, and eventually the Rail transport, railway reached it in 1857. The commune was created in 1857 from parts of Gagnières and Robiac-Rochessadoule. At its peak in the late 19th century, the population was over 11,000. However, during the 20th century it declined and eventually the mine was abandoned in 1964, and the steel-works in 1987. Today its economy is based on tourism, and it is home to the Étoile de Bessèges road bicycle race. Marguerittes
Marguerittes (; ) is a commune in the Gard department in southern France. In 1717, Antoine de Teissier (b.1667) was created the 1st Baron de Marguerittes. One of his sons was a Huguenot who took refuge in Switzerland and his grandson, Jean Antoine de Teissier, 3rd Baron of Marguerittes, was guillotined 20 May 1794. The 3rd Baron's son settled in England at Woodcote Park and was created Baron de Teissier by Louis XVIII in recognition of his father's sacrifices to France.
