2024–25 Texas Tech Red Raiders Basketball Team
The 2024–25 Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team represented Texas Tech University during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The Red Raiders were led by second-year coach Grant McCasland, and played their home games at the United Supermarkets Arena located in Lubbock, Texas. Previous season The Red Raiders finished the 2023–24 season 23–11, 11–7 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for third place. As the No. 4 seed in the Big 12 tournament, they defeated BYU in the quarterfinals, before losing to Houston in the semifinals. The Red Raiders received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 6 seed in the South Region, where they were defeated by NC State in the first round. Grant McCasland
Grant McCasland (born October 14, 1976) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head men's basketball coach at Texas Tech University. McCasland previously coached at North Texas from 2017 to 2023, where he guided the Mean Green to two postseason tournament championships: the 2018 College Basketball Invitational and 2023 National Invitation Tournament. He was previously an assistant at his alma mater, Baylor, and head coach at Midwestern State, Midland College, and Arkansas State. LJ Cryer
Lionel "LJ" Cryer Jr. (born October 9, 2001) is an American basketball player. He played college basketball for the Houston Cougars and Baylor Bears. High school career Cryer played basketball for Morton Ranch High School in Katy, Texas. As a junior, he averaged 27.5 points, 5.8 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game, earning District 19-6A MVP honors. In the regular season finale of his senior season, Cryer had a 50-point, 10-assist game against Mayde Creek High School. In his senior season, Cryer averaged 34.2 points, 5.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. He finished with 3,488 career points, the most in Houston area public school history. The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team represents the University of Minnesota in NCAA Division I college basketball competition. The Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represents Drake University, located in Des Moines, Iowa, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. The program is best known for making the 1969 Final Four. The Grand Canyon Antelopes men's basketball team represents Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. They are a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). They are led by head coach Bryce Drew and play their home games at Global Credit Union Arena. They made the jump to NCAA Division I and joined the WAC on July 1, 2013. Coleman Hawkins (born December 10, 2001) is an American basketball player. He played college basketball for the Kansas State Wildcats of the Big 12 Conference and the Illinois Fighting Illini of the Big Ten Conference. Early life and high school career Hawkins grew up in Antelope, California and initially attended Antelope High School. He transferred to Prolific Prep in Napa, California after his sophomore year. Jeremy Hunter Roach (born November 1, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the Baylor Bears of the Big 12 Conference. He previously played for the Duke Blue Devils. High school career As a freshman in 2016–17, Roach averaged 11.1 points to help lead his team to a 17–4 record and a runner-up finish in the WCAC. As a sophomore in 2017–18, Roach averaged 15.2 points to help his team to a 33–4 record, including 18–0 in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, and a VISAA championship. Roach would miss the rest of his junior season after he suffered a torn ACL during a scrimmage.
