2024–25 Second Professional Football League (Bulgaria)
The 2024–25 Second League is the 69th season of the Second League, the second tier of the Bulgarian football league system, and the 9th season under this name and current league structure. This season, the league was expanded to 20 teams, including two teams relegated from First League, four teams promoted from Third League and four reserve teams from First League. Second Professional Football League (Bulgaria)
The Bulgarian Second Professional Football League (), also known as Second League () or Vtora liga, is the second level of the Bulgarian football league system, below First Professional Football League (Bulgaria), First League and above the Third Amateur Football League (Bulgaria), Third League. Twenty teams take part in the league, each playing twice against all the other, once home and once away. Most matches are played on Saturdays and Sundays. The league is administered by the Bulgarian Professional Football League. In 2016, the B Group's name was rebranded to Second Professional Football League. FC Chernomorets Balchik
Chernomorets () is a Bulgarian football club based in Balchik, that competes in the North-East Third League, the 3rd tier of Bulgarian football. The team plays its home games at the local Balchik Stadium with 2,618 seats. History Chernomorets were founded as Sport Club Strela in late 1918 by English and Italian soldiers after World War I. The team finally became known as Chernomorets in 1957. In its history, Chernomorets has played mainly in the Bulgarian amateur divisions. Until the 1976/77 season, the team participated at most in the third Bulgarian division but gained promotion to the B Group for the 1977/78 season. Maritsa () is a Bulgarian association football club based in Plovdiv, currently playing in the Third League, the third level of Bulgarian football league system. It was established in 1921, after the merger of the teams Vampir and Trite Konski Sili. The club plays its home games at Maritsa Stadium, located in the city's northern district. The team's biggest success is playing in Bulgaria's top division four times, in 1967–68, 1969–70, 1970–71 and 1996–97. They have also reached the semifinals of the Bulgarian Cup once, in 1996–97. OFC Bdin () is a Bulgarian football club based in Vidin, currently (season 2023–2024) playing in the Second Professional League, the second level of Bulgarian football. Its home stadium "Georgi Benkovski" has a capacity of 15 000 seats. The club color is blue shirts and shorts. History The club was officially founded in 1923. In 1946, Bdin reached the Bulgarian Republic Football Championship semi-finals, eliminating Botev Plovdiv and Hadzhi Slavchev Pavlikeni along the way. Bdin also qualified to play in the A PFG in 1948–49 season, the first season of the newly established first tier of Bulgarian football. Bdin could not survive and was relegated, however. The 2023–24 First Professional Football League, also known as efbet League for sponsorship reasons, is the 100th season of the top division of the Bulgarian football league system, the 76th since a league format was adopted for the national competition of A Group as a top tier of the pyramid, and also the 8th season of the First Professional Football League, which decides the Bulgarian champion. The season began on 14 July 2023. Ludogorets Razgrad were the 12-time defending champions and successfully managed to defend the title, winning it for the thirteenth consecutive time. The Bulgarian Third Amateur Football League (), commonly known as Treta Liga or Bulgarian Third League (currently known as the ELITBET Third League for sponsorship reasons), is the third level of the Bulgarian football league system. Third League operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the second and the fourth tier of the Bulgarian football league pyramid – respectively being Second League and the A Oblast Groups. Currently Third League consists of four divisions that are formed by separating the country into four regions: ''North-West'', ''South-West'', ''North-East'' and ''South-East''. CSKA II () is a Bulgarian football team based in Sofia. Founded in 2016, it is the reserve team of CSKA Sofia, and played one season in the Second League, the second level of Bulgarian football in 2016-2017 and being restored in 2022 to play in the Third League. They ought to play at least one level below their main side, however, so CSKA II was ineligible for promotion to the First League and could not play in the Bulgarian Cup. FC Fratria () is a Bulgarian association football club based in Varna, which currently competes in the Second League, the second level of Bulgarian football league system. Fratrias home ground is the Albena 1 Stadium, which has a capacity of 3,000 spectators. History Establishment Fratria was established in 2021 by businessman Viktor Bakurevich, owner of Berezka supermarkets. FC Minyor () is a football club in Pernik, Bulgaria, currently competing in the Second League, the second tier of Bulgarian football. Founded in 1919 as SC Krakra, the club's home ground since 1954 has been Stadion Minyor. The club's name comes from the fact that the area around the city of Pernik has had long traditions with mining and the mining industry.
