2024–25 SDHL Season
The 2024–25 SDHL season was the eighteenth ice hockey season of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). The regular season began on 13 September 2024 and concluded on 16 February 2025. Teams Skellefteå AIK (women), Skellefteå AIK earned promotion to the SDHL after defeating AIK Hockey (women), AIK in the 2024 (). AIK Hockey were subsequently relegated to the Nationella Damhockeyligan (NDHL) after sixteen seasons in the SDHL and two Swedish Championship victories (2009 and 2013). Preseason The preseason began on 9 August 2024 and concluded on 8 September 2024. It primarily comprised Exhibition game, exhibition games played between SDHL teams, though three SDHL teams played a match or more against a team from outside of the league. Participation in the preseason was voluntary and had no bearing on the regular season. Swedish Women's Hockey League
The Swedish Women's Hockey League (), abbreviated SDHL, is the elite league for women's ice hockey in Sweden. It was established in 2007 as the by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and was renamed prior to the 2016–17 season. The league has ten teams and employs a system of promotion and relegation with the Nationella Damhockeyligan (NDHL). The unexpected withdrawal of Göteborg HC after playing only thirteen games of the 2022–23 season caused the number of teams to decrease to nine for the remainder of that season. Bodychecking was allowed for the 2022–23 season and goal cameras were introduced for the 2024–2025 season. Format When a game is tied after regulation, a sudden death overtime is played with only four skaters per team for maximum 10 minutes (or 20 minutes in the playoffs). Nationella Damhockeyligan
Nationella Damhockeyligan () or NDHL is the second-highest women's ice hockey league in Sweden. It was previously known as the Damettan or Damettan i ishockey during 2015 to 2021, and Division 1 during 2007 to 2015. The league engages in active promotion and relegation with the top-tier Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) and the third-tier Damtvåan. Beginning with the first official women's ice hockey Swedish Championship in 1988, the Division 1 served as the premier league for women's ice hockey and the winner of its playoffs was named Swedish Champion. During the 2007–08 season, the best Division 1 teams qualified for a newly created premier league, the Riksserien (renamed SDHL in 2016), at which point Division 1 was reconfigured as the second-tier league. Husqvarna Garden
The Husqvarna Garden, formerly Kinnarps Arena, is an indoor arena, primarily an ice hockey venue, in Jönköping, Sweden. History The arena, which is located in the Rosenlund district of Jönköping, was built between September 1999 and September 2000. It was literally built around and on top of the old arena Rosenlundshallen while HV71 was still playing their regular season games. Kinnarps Arena was designed by Flensborns arkitektkontor and Skanska as contractor, with Kinnarps AB financing the project. Future proprietor and owner of the arena is HV71 Fastighets AB, a subsidiary to HV71. HV71 played its first 2000–01 Elitserien season, Swedish Elite League game inside the arena on 26 September 2000, defeating Luleå HF, 6–4. Frölundaborg
Frölundaborg is an indoor arena located in the Frölunda borough of Gothenburg, Sweden. Frölundaborg is primarily used as an indoor venue for ice hockey games. It has a capacity of 7,600 people. The attendance record is 10,244, set in 1970. It also has been used when the main arena, Scandinavium, has been scheduled for other activities. This has been the case several times for unplanned matches, such as when Frölunda HC played in the Swedish Championship finals. It also serves as a venue for handball events. The Frölundaborg, along with the Scandinavium, were the venues hosting the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Gothenburg. It hosted games in Pool B.
