2024–25 PWHL Season
The 2024–25 PWHL season was the second season of operation of the Professional Women's Hockey League. Six teams competed during the season, located in Lowell, Saint Paul, Laval, Newark, Ottawa, and Toronto. In the playoffs, the Minnesota Frost won their second consecutive Walter Cup, defeating the Ottawa Charge in four games for the title. League business The 2024 PWHL Draft was held on June 10 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. On September 9, 2024, the PWHL revealed new names and logos for all six teams: Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montreal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres. Professional Women's Hockey League
The Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL; , LPHF) is a women's professional ice hockey league in North America. The league comprises eight teams, four each from the United States and Canada. The teams play a Season (sports), regular season to earn one of four places in a Playoffs, postseason tournament that determines the winner of the Walter Cup. The PWHL is wholly owned and operated by the Mark Walter, Mark Walter Group. Boston Fleet
The Boston Fleet are a professional ice hockey team based in the Greater Boston area that competes in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). They are one of the six charter franchises of the league. The team plays its home games at Tsongas Center. History Founding and inaugural season On August 29, 2023, it was announced that one of the PWHL's first six franchises would be located in Boston. This ensured the continuation of professional women's hockey in the area after the folding of the Boston Pride and the Premier Hockey Federation earlier that summer; the Pride had been that league's most successful franchise, winning three Isobel Cup championships. Danielle Marmer, a former scout and player development assistant for the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins, was named PWHL Boston's inaugural general manager.
