2024–25 Luxembourg National Division
The 2024–25 Luxembourg National Division season, also known as BGL Ligue, for sponsorship reasons, was the 111th of top-tier association football in Luxembourg. The season began on 3 August 2024 and ended on 25 May 2025. Teams Marisca Mersch, Schifflange (both relegated after a single year) and UN Käerjéng 97 (relegated after 2-years) were relegated at the end of the previous season, while Bettembourg (promoted after a 50-years absence), Rodange 91 (promoted after a 2-years absence) and Hostert (promoted after a single year absence) were promoted from the Luxembourg Division of Honour. Differdange 03 entered the season as defending league champions. Luxembourg National Division
The National Division (, , ), known as the BGL Ligue for sponsorship reasons, is the highest association football, football league in Luxembourg. Until 2011, it was known as the BGL Ligue, after the Luxembourg Football Federation managed to seal a sponsorship deal with Fortis (finance), Fortis. Before 2006, it contained twelve teams, but it expanded to fourteen for the 2006–07 Luxembourg National Division, 2006–07 season. Following the abandonment of the previous season, the 2020–21 Luxembourg National Division, 2020–21 season saw the further expansion of the league to 16 teams. The current champions are Differdange 03. The competition was first held in 1909–10 Luxembourg National Division, 1909–10, and has been held every year since, with the exceptions of 1912–13 and four seasons during the Second World War. Differdange
Differdange (; or locally ; ) is a Communes of Luxembourg, commune with List of towns in Luxembourg, town status in south-western Luxembourg, west from the Luxembourg City, country's capital. It lies near the borders with Belgium and France and it is located in the Esch-sur-Alzette (canton), canton of Esch-sur-Alzette. With a population of over 30,000, Differdange is the country's third largest city. It is also the main town of the commune, and other towns within the commune include Lasauvage, Niederkorn, Fousbann, and Oberkorn. Differdange is an industrial town that was home to much of Steel industry in Luxembourg, Luxembourg's steel production, much of its development occurred during its heyday. Today, Differdange still remains an important industrial center, with ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel producer, retaining the ARBED steel plant in the town. Stade (; ), officially the Hanseatic City of Stade (, ) is a city in Lower Saxony in northern Germany. First mentioned in records in 934, it is the seat of the Stade (district), district () which bears its name. It is located roughly to the west of Hamburg and belongs to that city's Hamburg Metropolitan Region, wider metropolitan region.
