2024–25 Cleveland Cavaliers Season
The 2024–25 Cleveland Cavaliers season was the 55th season for the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). On May 23, 2024, the Cavaliers fired their head coach J. B. Bickerstaff after five seasons with the team. On June 28, 2024, the Cavaliers hired Kenny Atkinson as their new head coach. The Cavaliers began their regular season with a 15-game win streak; it became the 4th time in NBA history a team has started the regular season with a 15–0 record, joining the 1948–49 Washington Capitols, 1993–94 Houston Rockets, and 2015–16 Golden State Warriors as the only teams to start out either similarly or better than that. Kenny Atkinson
Kenneth Neil Atkinson (born June 2, 1967) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was previously the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets from 2016 to 2020. Atkinson was born in Northport, New York and played college basketball for University of Richmond leading the Spiders team to an appearance in the 1988 NCAA Division I tournament. Playing career Atkinson averaged 18.9 points per game during his senior season at Richmond and played professionally in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and United States Basketball League (USBL) from 1990 to 1992.
